Heaters will have 'launch without lock' capability removed - though the MICA IR should keep it.

So, if you lock at 20miles with an ET and fire it will still work ... I thought we'd come to the conclusion it didn't have mid-course update? So how does that work?

I thought IRs could be fired without a lock - and if you happended to be in the way, tough ... or is this just a quick fix to get around the ET bug? Surely we need to cripple is FOV - I thought that was why it wasn't used this way in RL.

Okay, I guess I have to be MUCH more specific.

'Launch without seeker lock' will be inhibited.

You could launch a seeker withotu a lock RL, I'm sure - if yoU REALLY wanted to.

It would do a good job shooting down the sun, clouds, and lakes ;)

You mean a launch with override function maybe?

Anyway it would be even more a wasted IR missile then…;)

Even more of a wasted IR missile? It operates in an unrealistic capacity right now.

I've just watched your track ... very interesting. Has anyone else notice the apparent problems with AMRAAM and 9M fuses?

You have at least 3 missiles fly past you, all very close, certainly within the length of a 27, and not go off!!!! I know the US has historical problems making fuses ... but really!

Are all fuses modelled the same? Or are there differences for each missile?

That ET is certainly an uber missile ... launched BVR and starts tracking at over 4Ks ... and boom! Any news if this will be neutered in BS?

Somebody would have to pause the track in the exact moment the missile pasts me. Once I had the same doubt than you and thought the fuse model was wrong and asked about it. O think was Ironhand who cleared me the situation (don´t really remember, was a long time ago) but: you can "see" the missile going very near from me, but actually if we make a stop, and take measures, we could see that the missile actually is out of the fuse range, almost in the limit of it.

Apart from this and about the ET: I never do an HOJ ET shoot. In fact, in the track I only fire when the eagle turn and gave me a rear aspect (almost), after that I get the LA, and after that I still wait for the missile to have the correct course until break lock, that way i can be sure that I least the shoot is well done, the rest depends on the missile itself. From that point of view, I don see where is the "ubber" behaviour. I now than we can see this ubber things on the ET, but no in this track (in fact if you follow the 120´s, you will see that one of them makes an almost 90 degrees turn to atch me, what is clearle out of the missile´s seeker boundaries)

You can be as specifc as you like .... feel free.

It would be better to have things like clouds, sun, FOV, weather and the thermal effects of the ground etc modelled so that IR missiles ran off if not locked before launch.

That may be as a result of a guidance update from the launch plane ....

Actually, the lock on sun is/was modeled in Lock-on-FC
