myHelljumper Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Yep. But it shouldn't, Magic seeker has high tracking angle... How high is the traking angle ? A track would help. Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA

jojo Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 is about "capable of detecting targets head-on with infrared and at angles of up to 80 degrees with CO2 emissions," from here https://www.forecastinternational.com/archive/disp_pdf.cfm?DACH_RECNO=592 Again, it would be better to: - ask questions before claiming a bug - post a track to sustain your bug. I give it to you that the document isn't really clear, so you misunderstood it. Magic 2 FoV is more or less +/- 55° (laterally inside your canopy frame). The part you quote is referring to target's aspect angle for Magic 1. Magic 1 was a "rear aspect" missile, dating from 1976. They extended the launch envelope up 80° off tail, not so bad at that time (other Fox 2 missiles in service at that time may have narrower detection cone). Also you can read that the Magic 1 can be launched at 6G whereas the Magic 2 (fielded in 1986) can be launched at 9G and is "all aspect" missile... Mirage fanatic ! D4n Posted April 10, 2018 Author Posted April 10, 2018 so 55° in total, that's weird, next time this happens I will record it to show the weird issue. jojo Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 About that, 50 or 55 degrees off axis. +/- 55 degrees makes a total FoV of 110 degrees. Radar total FoV being 120 degrees. Mirage fanatic ! D4n Posted April 12, 2018 Author Posted April 12, 2018 Ok yesterday it worked as intended, so I think it was flares that made my Magic II lose lock completely when I slightly pulled up on the stick.
