Griffin-185th Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 ...do we need to have the release version or will the auto updates bring us up to date? If, as I fear, we have to download the "Release" version, is there a safe process whereby module licences don't get lost or lose an activation? I certainly cannot find anything on the website to help on this. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 9, 2018 ED Team Posted April 9, 2018 your licences are fine, they are bound to your machine and not to the individual installs of DCS You can have both release and beta, they are currently the same version number. Usually the beta gets updated first but not always, at some point in the future they maybe different versions so having both is a good idea if you have the room. Each version, release and beta will update automatically. But if you are asking will the beta update to release the answer is no, they are separate installs https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/ You can also use a command prompt to switch between the different versions Forum rules - DCS Crashing? muehlema Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 So I understand this right, all my current 2.5 setup is going to remain as-is and I will have a second 50GB copy of DCS on my drive? I will have to port manually all my mods and all my purchases X-Plane 11.5x / DCS 2.5.6 / P3Dv5 / Aerofly FS 2 / War Thunder Win10-x64 | ASUS Z390 Maximus VI | Intel i7-9700K @3.6GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB DDR4 | 6TB SSD Samsung 850 Pro | 2TB M2 PCI 4x | ASUS GTX 1080 ROG STRIX 8GB DDR5X | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Combat Pedals | Oculus Rift S
QuiGon Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 So I understand this right, all my current 2.5 setup is going to remain as-is and I will have a second 50GB copy of DCS on my drive? That's entirely up to you what you prefer. I will have to port manually all my mods and all my purchases If you choose to install both, the Open Beta and the Release version, then yes, you will have to manually copy your mods and settings, but not your purchases. The modules you have purchased are not bound to the installation, but to your machine as BIGNEWY already said. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
