...do we need to have the release version or will the auto updates bring us up to date?

 

 

If, as I fear, we have to download the "Release" version, is there a safe process whereby module licences don't get lost or lose an activation?

 

 

I certainly cannot find anything on the website to help on this.

your licences are fine, they are bound to your machine and not to the individual installs of DCS

 

You can have both release and beta, they are currently the same version number.

 

Usually the beta gets updated first but not always, at some point in the future they maybe different versions so having both is a good idea if you have the room.

 

Each version, release and beta will update automatically.

 

But if you are asking will the beta update to release the answer is no, they are separate installs

You can also use a command prompt to switch between the different versions

That's entirely up to you what you prefer.

If you choose to install both, the Open Beta and the Release version, then yes, you will have to manually copy your mods and settings, but not your purchases. The modules you have purchased are not bound to the installation, but to your machine as BIGNEWY already said.
