AV-8B and CCIP help

OK so i'm new at the AV8B so please correct me if anything i'm saying is complete hog wash.

 

OK so since mavericks are out right now due to the bug, I been working on my CCIP dumb bomb drop. I've gotten decent at it I think. However I experienced a new thing last time out.

 

I noticed all of a sudden all my bombs were falling waaaay short. like were talking 40-100meters short. This was weird as I was doing it just fine a few minutes ago. I go to circle around and come back for another pass and as I complete my turn I see theres a box in my hud bearing 130 on a hill off in the distance like 200km away. I ignored it and come in for my pass and again the bombs were wayy off target.

 

My guess is that the box in the distance is my "DMT" that I accidentally somehow locked into the distance? and its affecting the CCIP calculations by feeding it incorrect target altitude levels (I'm thinking its using the hills altitude?) I'm assuming this is correct as I read somewhere CCIP drops are more accurate if you can point ur DMT at the target...

 

Anyway so I come to Turn off the DMT lock on the hill and the command for "AG target Undesignate / NWS / FOV toggle" is LWIN+N. So I hit this and nothing happened. I tried a bunch of commands and basically could not get this DMT TV thing to turn off or reset.

 

Is any of this correct? and if so how do I turn off or reset the TV? (assuming my assumption that it affects CCIP is correct) thanks in advance guys

Does the DMT camera switch on when you are pointing at the box and show an image that seems to correlate with what you see in the HUD?

 

In the meantime, do you definitely have the solid CCIP cross, not the dashed one?

 

My install shows that "AG target Undesignate / NWS / FOV toggle" is in fact RWin+N, NOT LWIN+N.

hey man appreciate the response. ya the image I see in the MFCD is the one the box is pointed at. I actually figured out why the NWS wasnt working. I only have 1 window button on my keyboard and its on the left. I dont even know what a RIGHT win button is. anyway I bound it to a different key and its working now.

 

Only question now is does the DMT camera provide target altitude information for the CCIP solution? making the CCIP solution more accurate if I have a DMT lock on the ground around the target ?

I too have been practicing my dumb bomb drops now that the Mavs are out of action.

 

Can you use CCIP to drop the dumb bombs without the aim of the DMT ?

Eyeballed the target without it and went for a run. I observed that there was no detonation. Not sure if my bomb dropped short or whatever..

 

I have set the fuzing to T IN.

 

I was like thinking; the bomb wont work if you're not using the DMT

not sure why ur bombs didn't explode if you put the fuse in, but I've dropped many bombs without DMT and they've all detonated.

 

which bombs did u drop? possibly the practice smoke ones ?

so i just tried it on mine, mk-82 fuse IN, CCIP, no DMT, and it worked fine I had full detonation. Id say try it again and see if it was just a one time bug maybe you didnt notice you did something differently I dont know

 

But it works fine for me.
