Evening all from Australia,

I am confident flying the Mirage and love this thing.

INS is letting me down miserably, I cannot enter new points in PREP, INS does not function outside the training session and when flying, I can't set any waypoints at all.

The INS seems to have problems with new inputs and when in Prep mode, it seems to only like 01 as its input and even then, it will not give me the bare lines to input new data.

I see one guy on STEAM with the same problem but no one has responded to his question on this same thing yet.

This is his problem the same as mine:

I Press Prep and enter desired waypoint for example if to create new waypoint 4, I enter 04. But as I enter it, the lat long data does not become zeros for me to enter the new lat long data for the new point. It remains unchanged. I did not have this certain bug before the 2.5 update.

Any advice on this would be great because the sole reason I love DCS is the immersion and I want to master INS navigation in the Mirage.

As Azrayen mentioned, the way INS in the M2kC works the waypoints are sequential.

For, example, sometimes in some multiplayer servers sometimes the mission editors only set a bullseye waytpoint (we'll call this waypoint 01). In order to create a new waypoint the next waypoint you have to create is waypoint 02. You cannot create waypoint 03 without having 02 and the same goes if you are trying to create 04 but do not have 03 yet.

Also, the INS is still buggy sometimes when it comes to the characters displayed on the digital read out screen when using PREP and a waypoint. Just remember the process of PREP (WAYPOINT NUMBER), "+" for left side or right side parameters, input lat/long in decimal seconds and hit the INS button on bottom right of INS scratch/number pad.

One last thing that comes to mind...was your INS fully aligned?

Hi all and thank you for your feedback it’s great.

This is what I am doing, Fast Mission Causcus Start up or Instant Action Causcus also has the same problem or even Free Flight.

Start up Jet

Align INS to static coordinates while going through checklist and using Prep 00 and dials on N, Vei, L/G

Start Alignment - Prep shows 00, Dest shows 01, Dials set to N, Aln, L/G, then click Val

Alignment complete and Prep showing 00 and Dest showing 01 with current coords displayed.

Taxi out and get airborne with dials on N, Nav, L/G

Once airborne and in Autopilot, I click Prep, 02 to enter a new waypoint (at this stage there are no waypoints entered and only initial alignment conducted) and it will not let me enter 02 and when I press Prep then 02 it defaults to 01

I again try pressing Prep then 02 to enter a new way-point and 01 comes up every single time.

Essentially the INS will not let me enter 02 or 03 or 04 or 05 etc it seems to be stuck on either 00 or 01 only

It is as if there is a bug that will not let me put in anything greater than 01 in the Prep step.

I have uninstalled DCS 2.5 Stable as well as the Mirage module and re-installed but with no luck, it keeps doing the same thing.

Do you guys think I am actually not doing something correctly because I have watched the videos on the Mirages INS setup and way-point set ups and have followed those to the letter with no luck.

I am very confident in entering the left and right N/S or E/W coords and the process of doing this but I am only able to do this in the INS training session.

Outside the training session, the INS is determined to make me look stupid.

Is there definitely a waypoint 1? I would repeat your procedure with a mission where you definitely know what waypoints are already set or not. I used the ins in 2.51 Multiplayer without a problem. If I remember correctly there were some lat/long for wp1, but I simply did override them. If that doesn't work I suggest to upload a track.

Ok, I want to thank everyone who has helped here.

I love this game and spent a fortune getting a PC set up so I can enjoy the best immersion possible in full VR with the best of everything.

The Mirage is incredible and the Pilot inputs make it very special in my books so thank you RAZBAM for this jet.

I have solved my problem, all my issues were due to not having the Lats and Longs set up in Decimal format.

The Mirage INS will not let you input anything that is not in Decimal, it simply refuses to accept any inputs that are not in the 00:00.000 format.

This is how the Mirage INS is designed to work.

For anyone experiencing this very same problem, make sure that you set the map coordinates style to Lat Long Decimal and you will be fine.

I just flew 2 sorties, 1 in Causcus and 1 in NTTR and was able to both enter and change all waypoints with no problem.

Thanks everyone.

Nice you found your problem.

You could have found your solution by reading the manual, I really encourage you to read it.

I'm glad we got this figured out together =D :pilotfly:

I am one of those people who can read certain things all day and still get the process wrong (INS) but the minute I do it correctly once, it's locked in for good.

Thanks.
