fitness88 Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 Well I am not anymore as I found I needed it running for my ASW settings in OTT to stick. Been a while since I have done so, it sure used to work though. Closing down Home is closing down the Oculus service which to me would be impossible for the HMD to work.
gianlu320 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I opted out from the oculus beta this afternoon as I reported here. It works perfectly for me I have the oculus home.exe set as run as administrator. I load DCSW and the oculus turns on as normal without oculus home being loaded When I opted out from the oculus beta I turned off 2 options, one is to opt out from the beta and I think the other is to switch off the core 2.0 Can't be sure about the exact name of the two options because I'm not at the computer where I have the oculus installed at the moment. But It definitely works

dburne Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Closing down Home is closing down the Oculus service which to me would be impossible for the HMD to work. Nope not at all, Oculus service starts on PC bootup and is always running ( unless you stop it). I used to run DCS without home running quite a bit, just decided at one point to go ahead and leave Home running as I needed it for my ASW setting to stick and I really did not see much if any performance difference. gianlu320 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I confirm that closing down oculus home doesn't stop the oculus service at all. In fact make sure you don't have your oculus home set to be loaded at win startup start your computer and go to resources manager or whatever is called and you will see the oculus service running. I also confirm that now with version 1.25 I have NO oculus window open on my screen when DCSW is running. Oculus home is not running at all! The only thing I run is oculus tray tool to set ASW off but only after DCSW is already running and I'm sitting in the cockpit

Yes I see the check box in OTT in Advanced tab to not have Oculus Home run. I was under the impression that OTT is the first program that needs to be running then DCSW. fitness88 Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) I just did 1 startup of OTT without Home coming up. Spoke too soon...once I engaged DCSW, the Home window came up. Edited May 14, 2018 by fitness88
dburne Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) Set the Oculus Home Client to " Run as Administrator". That will prevent Oculus Home from starting up automatically. Browse to your Oculus folder, it is in Oculus/Support/Oculus Client/ folder. Right click on OculusClient.exe and select properties. Go to the compatibility tab, and put a check in " Run this program as administrator". Click apply and ok. Oculus Home will not start automatically. Then yes also in Oculus Tray Tool put a check in " Don't require Oculus Home to be running". This will allow the Tray Tool to interact with Oculus without Home. But you need to set Home to run as administrator so it does not auto start.
