Is the Normandy map dead?

Obviously, I can't speak for Ugra, but I would imagine that Syria will have speedtrees, as the issue with Normandy was/is that speedtrees came in after the map was developed, and they haven't bothered to update it.

 

Sure, maybe eventually they'll announce otherwise, but until then a team that doesn't bother with updating is not a team I'd trust with implementing.

Well, we could go round in circles on this, but the thing is Speedtrees are now available - unlike during Normandy - and I would imagine (hope!) it would be part of the development phase of Syria.

Since DCS now supports Speedtrees, I'd presume they are going to use them. But we shall see.

You are welcome to, and have shared your opinion on the matter, but this isn't the place to lobby others to your opinion, or to accuse anyone at ED of lying about it. As someone else mentioned, speedtrees wasn't available to them when they started the Normandy map, if Wags mentions a return to Normandy after Syria, that is a pretty safe bet.
