Nothing super amazing, but the atmospheric effects are awesome... Can't wait for them to start flying more complex aerobatics.

Back in the day when I had time for airshows, Pt. Mugu was one of my

favourite airshows. The scenery around the base was great - especially that big hill SW of the runways and the Tomcats popping from behind it,

going feet dry... almost like the shows at my all time favourite MCAS El Toro (RIP:( ) - well, not too many Tomcats there, mostly Bugs doing

tactical pops from all directions...

Before I get too sentimental:cry: - yep, the vapor cloud ripping away from

the Raptors wings looked spectacular.

Like usual the thunderbirds did rock big time!

The eagle pilot was good.

But what was the deal with the raptor?

A real chicken nOOb flying it!

Hey Crusty... I had forgotten that MCAS El Torro was closed.. I vaguely remember hearing it on the news back in 1999... But I guess it just didn't register for some reason..

I just googled it and it appears that it was closed because it was contaminating the the ground soil. And it seems that there a lot of fruit groves in the area and they are very important the local economy ...

Seems to me it was the right decision, there's a real need to try and reverse a lot of the mistake's that we've made with conservation..

I'm just wondering about MCAS Cherry Point NC, 2nd MAW my old duty station......

Well this should be fine for now as The Marines still need to have one Master Jet Station..

LOL the funiest thing in there is the smart A$$ kid. :D

The kid and the music were awesome anyway! :D

You could hear him thinking “You are not a fighter pilot but just a reporter… Looser…”

Point Mugu was my hometown base. I can still remember going to the beach at Mugu and watching the F-14's and F-4's roar overhead. A particularly good memory was when the F-14A+'s and F-14D's showed up.

VF, Baby...!
