williehayesjr Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Is there a way, as of yet, to install F18 module via the command prompt? Trying to install via the in game Install module has been a no go for me.
williehayesjr Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Still can not download F18 I still have not been able to download the F/A-18. Is there a way, as of yet, to install F18 module via the command prompt? Trying to install via the in game Install module has been a no go for me, even after 2 days of trying. It Actually shows up in Install Module; but when I click to install, after about three seconds, it goes back to desktop. What am I doing wrong? Also, I had to download the Persian Gulf via command prompt also (a fellow brother gave me the command line); the same thing happened when I tried to install it--back to desk top. Help please.

Deadpoetic6 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 did you tried to run dcs_updater.exe update @openbeta?
williehayesjr Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Updated I am updated to 2.5.2.17559. I have no problem updating DCS. Again, is there a command line, like I did for Persian Gulf and updating, that I can type in, at the DOS Prompt, that would let me download the F18 module? Thank you guys, in advance, for your help.
bradleyjs Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 The Module Manager should give you the option install it. Have you checked to see? williehayesjr Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Module Install That's what I have been using, the Install Module inside the DCS program. When I click install, after about 3 seconds, it goes back to the desktop every time. It is for that reason I seek the command line option, just as I had to do with the Persian Gulf install.
bradleyjs Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Bummer - I suggest that you post the log(s) and dxdiag .txt file per NineLine’s instructions and see what they have to say. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=210217 Also trying a Repair/Clean might help too. TheWalrus Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 If you have to manually install the hornet module, you need to open a command terminal and enter: DCS_updater.exe install FA-18C Hopefully that works for you.
bradleyjs Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I’m curious to know if that works - let us know. williehayesjr Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 It tried to install After going to the DOS prompt, I went all the way to the bin file and typed in DCS_updater.exe install FA-18C. This time it actually went looking for the file. But, unfortunately it came back with "unknown module FA-18C" I copied this, via copy command, from The Walrus' post. The command is correct because it attempted to go in and look for the download file. Bradleyjs maybe the alphabetical syntax of FA-18C is not quite correct. Any suggestions?
TheWalrus Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Odd that the updater is in the bin file. Could you try that same command just in your main DCS openbeta folder? By the way, if you want to quickly open the command line in a certain folder you can right click + shift and select "open command window here" in said folder.

TheWalrus Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 According to your log, you're still on 2.5.2.17559.377 which is not the latest version and does not have the hornet. You'll need to update to 2.5.2.17978.385 first. Then you should be able to download the hornet without any issues.

bradleyjs Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 To get the latest: DCS_updater.exe Update Alienware Area 51 R5 - Intel i9 7980XE (4.7 GHz), 32GB Dual Channel HyperX DDR4 XMP, Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Graphics 11GB GDDR5X SLI, 4.5 TB combo of SSDs/HDDs, Alienware 1500 Watt Multi-GPU Power Supply, Alienware 25” 240Hz Gaming Monitor, Alienware Pro Gaming Keyboard, TM HOTAS, TM Cougar F-16C MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, TrackIR5, Win10 Pro x64
williehayesjr Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Bradleyjs, I am downloading the updates as we speak. I will then put in the install line and see what happens.
bradleyjs Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 You should be able to do it from the GUI - but what the hell you’re already at the CMD line. Hope it works! williehayesjr Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Thanks Guys Everything has worked out. I am now downloading the F18 module and will soon be ready to fly the F/A 18C jet in the Persian Gulf. Please forgive my sentimentality, but I am an old southerner for New Orleans, living in the mountains of Colorado. And the first time I had ever experience equality was as a veteran of the Vietnam War--we were truly brothers. Today, I feel that same type of comradery among you guys. Let me say Thank You my brothers and sisters.
