i guess i found a new issue or you can say a bug about Carrier John, that is:whatever how you set tcan in the editor it will always change it to 1X,so 1X will be current tacan channel we need to set!:book:

Do you set it in the waypoint editor (Set tacan or whatever). In our squad mission we have it as 74X, so it is possible.

Unsure what the OP is trying to convey, but I haven't had any issues setting the Stennis to 55X. It retains that frequency and the TACAN in the F/A-18C successfully tracks it.

I have seen this myself and it seems you have to go in and edit waypoint 0 "Advanced waypoint action" options after you have added the TCN to get it to work.

In my editor I am able to set the Tacan channel of the carrier to 55X and that work perfect every time.

- If i change the tacan channel of a refuel plane, to example 18X then the F18 can only show me the direction, but no information about the range. ( that is strange ). ( the c130 refuel plane ).

However tacan 1X that the f18 start with, and should be the std carrier tacan channel never work for me... ( on the persian map, did not test on other maps ).

By the way to change the tacan channel go in to advanced waypoint and deleted the tacan 1x and then make a new advanced waypond command with tacan 55X. and by the way the std. radio for the carrier is 127.500 no need to enter this in the editor, thought it would be handy to write this number in the briefing so people know.

( actual it would be good if when you click on the carrier on the map ingame that you get information about the carrieres tacan chanel and radio frq, just like if you click on an airport ).

Sorry to reply to a semi old thread but I have been having the same problem all day and solved it by reading Bravo's reply.

The TACAN just would not work for any custom channel I set it to in the ME. It would always respond to 1x and only if used it in A/A mode.

If you set the TACAN under the 'Triggered actions' tab then 'Type/Action' (That's the way I watched how to do it and have always done it) it will be overruled by the 'Activate TACAN 1x command' under the 'Advanced (waypoint actions)' button.

This preset command also contains '-a' at the end which may something to do with A/A only part-not sure.

So to make it all work as it should you just have to delete the preset command for Activate TACAN under Advanced waypoint actions then create your own there instead.

Hope this helps someone as it was driving my nuts!
