Thorrior Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 I have a weird problem with my T-Rudder pedals from Thrustmaster. I've been using them a year now and they were working just fine. Recently both wheelbrake pedals are not recognized by DCS directly. In the axis control settings I choose left wheelbrake and when I press the pedal nothing happens. I can select them manually from the drop down menu, but when I do that they're not working properly. They're always acting as if they were pressed half way through, so half brake pressure is always applied. The z-axis works fine though. This problem doesn't seem to be related to DCS only. In Il2 BoS I can't map the brakes at all. On the other hand in X-Plane 11 it doesn't seem to be an issue. The pedals were already recognized by the game automatically. However, when I start Target GUI and create a profile just with the pedals and run the profile before starting DCS, I can perfectly assign both pedals to the wheelbrakes. I've tried several things to solve that issue. I uninstalled any Thrusmaster software and drivers that were installed. I manually deleted any Thrustmaster folders I could find, rebooted the PC and installed the drivers and software again. This didn't solve anything. Does anyone have a clue why it's behaving like this? i7-8700K, 32 GB DDR4-3200, Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7, Asus TUF RTX 3090, Samsung 960 Evo M.2 1 TB, WD Blue 4 TB, TrackIR 5, Virpil WarBRD-Base, Virpil Mongoos T50 CM2 Grip, Virpil Mongoos T-50 CM2 Throttle, Slaw Device RX Viper, LG 34GN850 @ 3440 x 1440
dburne Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Try depressing the pedal you are assigning app half way and hold it, then click to assign axis, then move pedal fully in - release - then press fully again-release and see if it might pick that up. Thorrior Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Thanks for the reply dburne. I just found how to fix the problem. I uninstalled the TM software and drivers again and deleted any folders I could find. Then I started the Windows controller settings with joy.cpl. I was able to reset the rudder to standard values there. This wasn't possible with the TM FF drivers installed. What a strange problem. I assume it had something to do with any of the Thrustmaster software and settings / calibration that I had done. I even had Amazon send me a set of replacement pedals because I initally thought it could be a hardware issue. i7-8700K, 32 GB DDR4-3200, Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7, Asus TUF RTX 3090, Samsung 960 Evo M.2 1 TB, WD Blue 4 TB, TrackIR 5, Virpil WarBRD-Base, Virpil Mongoos T50 CM2 Grip, Virpil Mongoos T-50 CM2 Throttle, Slaw Device RX Viper, LG 34GN850 @ 3440 x 1440
sobe Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Thorrior Today I noticed that my rudder is about 20% off center to the left when looked at the controls icon in the jet (the little box that pops up in the lower left) after using the TM calibration software. Did you say that use used the joy.cpl with no issues? Thorrior Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 (edited) Yes, I used it without any problems. Try uninstalling the TM FF drivers. Restart the PC and then use joy.cpl. In the first tab you can calibrate and reset to standard. I calibrated first but it didn't help. Then I reset to standard settings and it worked. No idea if the calibration I did before had any effect on this. But after the second step it was working perfectly in DCS again. I had a similar issue with the rudder in the BF 109. It was a bit to the left when the rudder was connected. In the Hornet it was okay. Sokol1_br Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 What should be not done is mixed is Tm calibration with Windows calibration, or use one or another only. BTW - DView, DXTweak2 provide a better calibration than joy.cpl.
