Hi, I heard that this server is coming back to life!

You heard right. However, with quite a few changes we're still running into some issues and bug fixing. Ain't rushing nothing. It'll be good to go when it's ready.

Take your time my friend, I'll be there to fly like old times.

Server News:

With fixing things is being rather a challenge, the server will go online tonight with the following specifications in mind:

  • Each mission on the roster runs for 12 hours.
  • After 12 hours a new mission is loaded regardless of whether the objectives were completed or not.
  • However, if one side completes the objectives the server rotates immediately.
  • No side choosing (typing -red/-blue) is required.
  • No limitations on lives.
  • Basically, the missions will run in simple mode. Join and hit fly.

There will be more testing during the next week regarding side choosing (typing -red/-blue) and limiting lives. Once that's ready to go it will be added and you will be notified.

  • The server will go online around 1500 zulu.
  • We kick it off with operation Disturbed Pacific (Mariana Islands) with quite some anti-ship tasking for both sides. A-4's take off from the carrier. Get that mod ready to go!
  • Check out the briefing here.

Finally had a chance to play on the server (OP Disturbed Pacific). Player count wasn't too high but surely enough for some good action. I really missed those objective driven cold-war scenarios and it's great to have that back, at least to some extent. The live-points system is also an improvement IMO since that way noone can burn away planes for everybody else. I'm a little more sceptical on the side-locking though. It prevents players from hoping on the winning side but it also prevents players from balancing out the teams if they wish to do so and might have a negative effect in the end. I hope the server stays up even if it only has a fraction of players compared to the big PVP servers. But then again, having 50+ ppl doesn't mean you're gonna have a blast, sometimes quite the contrary (less is more, as the germans say).
I was a little surprised though to see the SA-5 fire at me after I took down the search and tracking radars (the 'SA-5 destroyed' message also came up) and came back to bomb the hangars. Can they be repaired with helos?

Anyway, thanks for putting the server back up!

You can always choose a different side every 6 hours. Having slots available for players on one side would result in having some exploiting that, which used to be the case in the past.

There is another SA-5 SAM site at Guam Island (Red main base). I guess it was the one shooting at you as I remember it to be the case back in the day.

We're still working on fixing a few issues, but once that's done I hope we go back to having a bit more players. And you're very right about the less is more saying, and I've said that many times throughout the years. While the server can host up to 50 players, my missions are rather more suitable for 10 vs 10 or 15 vs 15 at the most, supposing sides are perfectly balanced. I've always designed missions with only a few slots in mind for both sides. However, when all slots are taken you get the 50 players flying around. That used to be around the weekends or when some popular missions went online.

The server's always had the population going up and down like that, but as long as we get a total of 20 players (even a total of 10 with 5 vs 5 in some missions) we're doing just fine. After all, I design missions around the objectives and assign aircraft accordingly. Admittedly, I sometimes add a few more slots than needed because players keep asking for it. Take the F-4 as an example for that. I'd rather have 2-4 slots in all missions while players were asking for at least 6 or 8, so I ended up having 4-6 slots in most missions.

I've never streamed or used youtube, so the popularity of the server always depended on players spreading the word and that they did. That surely didn't help with the population much towards the end. After all, streamers and youtubers have become a thing during the last years and boy they do generate numbers. I just don't have enough appetite to do it. It's not for me 😉

The server shows up for me. Make sure your DCS is updated to the latest version, otherwise you will not see the server in the list.

Like Dawger said. Also, the server restarts from time to time to always show up on the list. If all fails, you can always connect via IP: 38.77.25.75:48001

Server News:

The server has been stable for quite a while now. Many thanks to HADES 1-1 | Dawger =475FG= for his efforts. If you remember, when I announced my potential comeback I made it clear that a few things must be in place so I can do Cold War or something else. One of these things was having someone able of writing sophisticated scripts to primarily help with saving mission progress among other features that are in place now. I really wanted to do that "something else". Not worthy of any detailing or mentioning though because I'm not there yet with the scripts.
REAPER 53 | Yink wrote some cool scripts with great features, but unfortunately, saving mission progress was always a headache and after a few months we had to stop trying.
Long story short
, I'm still looking for someone able of writing such a script. If not, the server is still up and running for as long as the host permits it and he's been very generous.
