Instant action - Missile combat: M-2000C AI

Hi everyone,

if I try instant mission with M-2000C (Missle Combat) and I issue an order for the wingman to attack bandits, he aknowledges, he turns towards the enemy but he rarely fires any missles, only when danger close or in dogfight and mostly Magic. Each time when I restart the mission something different happens of course but it rarely or never happens for him to really engage the enemy like it should. No aggressiveness whatsoever. The fight usually ends with 530 never fired by him and basically it's me against all 4 red fighters - 2xMiG-23MLD + 2xMiG-29A.

Maybe some different command should be used? I even order him to turn on ECM and Radar before the bandit engagement order.

You need to order him to engage hostiles.

I have to admit there is room for improvement in his behavior.

Usually I lock a target, I order "engage hostile" then "engage my target" and it does the trick.

Usually I expect him to shoot down one MiG-23 while I shoot the other one, then to distract the MiG-29 while I set up for the new engagement.

I usually manage to shoot one MiG-23 and 2 MiG-29 on average.

But if the wingman get shot down by the MiG-23 it's more complicated Vs MiG-29...

4 - 0 for the pair is doable, but 4 - 1 isn't uncommon :music_whistling:

M-2000C with D2D+RWR gives you great situational awareness so I manage to evade a salvo of missiles from Floggers and Flankers while I still guide the Super 530 or launch Magic's but that little f**er most of the time doesn't do anything useful. When I look the TacView I really get :furious: because I was left alone there.

engage hostiles == engage bandits ?

and what is engage my enemies ?

My bad, indeed, "engage bandits" + "engage my target".

From FC3 manual:

Wingmen

Engage:

- My Target: Player requests wingmen to attack the target that is the focus of a sensor (radar or EOS) or padlock. When the target is destroyed, wingmen will return to formation.

-My Enemy: Player requests wingmen to attack enemy aircraft that is attacking him.

-Bandits: Player requests wingmen to leave formation and engage bandits (enemy aircraft) within sensor range. When the target is destroyed, wingmen will return to formation.

I'm not saying that it's the normal way to do it (double order), but it seems to work for me.

When I used to practice with this mission I had the same frustration. Ultimately, I went into the ME and changed the mission so that the other Mirage is in a separate flight. Then he engages as he should.
