you can't edit .lua in the main install, it'll cause IC issues

 

create a text file name & save it as autoexec.cfg, place it in the Config folder in your dcs saved games directory (e.g D:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\auotexec.cfg)

 

using notepad ++

add this line to the text file in .cfg and make whatever you fps limit you require

 

options.graphics.maxfps = 60

You can edit the graphics.lua quite safely without busting IC, but as you say it would be easier to make the autoexec.cfg file.
