sp0nge Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Perhaps there is another program? Maybe contact 3dsm creators Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rattler Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 Humble Can we get the files off of Walmis's HD by giving it to a tech to recover info. Super have you asked Walmis if this is possible. If not I guess one, we look for another software and two, ask ED very humbly for any support to Walmis. Can't think of any other options, had high hopes for zmodeler. Hard spot to be in. I mentioned ED cause you tried I think one time before. Maybe a little different approach might help, you would know better than anyone if it would be even worth a try. Other than what someone has already said, look for another software program. I think our best hope is if we can retrieve the files from Walmis's HD. If he would be willing at no cost to him. I think that is our best shot right now. Hopefully someone may have a better idea. Let's hope so but I think we are now down to Walmis and how far he will commit as long as it does not cost him any money. Cheers.
SuperKungFu Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 The way i see it, if the zmodeler thing doesn't work out, we are left with 2 (poor) options. 1.) We ask walmis to take his old Hard driver to a professional, and we give him the money for the repairs to try and retrieve any data. But that may be troublesome to walmis. 2.) Ask ED to give us the current F-15 model from lock on, since its pretty old. The current F-15 model was actually pretty good, it had the correct shape- even better than walmis, but it wasn't detailed enough. When it comes time to ask from ED, i guess I'll do it since they might listen to a person with higher rep. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
AJ.eightFive Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 3.) Wait for FighterOps :P Only kidding, I've been following this thread and its a shame to see things work out this way. I hope something works out in the end. I really enjoyed Walmis' model :(. Good luck!
SuperKungFu Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 forgot to mention another third option other than waiting for FO lol we could try covnerting again, but this time walmis provide a package that has all the real texture and the last updated model into a package like the one previously uploaded by Oleg. And try converting again, maybe my file was corrupted or something. or option four, look for another coverting software [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

rattler Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 yea sorry i just want it to put it in a listing, plus i just copied and paste that from the pm i sent you a while back. Thanks for reply. Thought you were upset with me for something. I never got a reply from any of my PM's to you. I know you got your head around this problem, I was just trying to take some of the none essential info and keep the forum community updated. I did ask Oleg to give you a shout when I saw you were have problems with his downloads and asked him to get in touch with you. Stuff like that I can help you with if you wish. If not then I will let you do what you have to do to see if this Project can be done. Cheers and Good Luck.
SuperKungFu Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 ok here's the tip from oleg well, i'll skim the exported .3ds file - there is a limtation in 3ds format on object/material and texture names: only 12/13 characters. I afraid there might be duplicate object names ater truncation. the most simple way at the moment is to rename ALL objects manually in objects browser to 000, 001, 002 and so on. It wil take lots of time, but it will illeminate "invalid file format" problem. Renaming materials to Mat01, Mat02, Mat03 will also help in your case. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest rattler1 Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Super: Thanks for the update. So it looks like it may be a do able Project as far as the texture is concerned. Any news on if it will keep animation? Answer when you have time. cheers.
SuperKungFu Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 the animations would sadly be bypassed according to Oleg, so we would loose that no matter what due to the zmodeler program. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
7rooper Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 It's better than nothing.. I tried to import the *.3ds file into 3dmax 9 and it wasnt possible, 3ds says that it doesn't recognize the format. I guess I wont be of much help for now.... however I'll be looking forward for any progress. Guest rattler1 Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Super: It was a tremendous task you had to begin with. You have come farther than anyone else in your effort and for that I thank you. Who knows something may come along. I would suggest to keep this thread alive as there are software developers out there that just may fit our needs. We got texture and we may yet get somewhere with animation. Cheers, looking forward for the next update what ever it may be. There was progress made and I am sure more to come. Thanks for hanging in.

SuperKungFu Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 has anyone tried renameing the textures as stated above? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
