Came across this, haven’t seen it posted yet. Figured we can never have too much training material! This guy made an excellent video I thought, very well laid out.

Forgot to add, this guy is a former Hornet driver who now instructs

The guy who made the video is a real Hornet pilot and now is an instructor pilot in the Hawk teaching new carrier pilots.

Unlike all the stuff coming out of the virtual squadron world (don't mean to offend), his video is top notch because what he is showing is real life data from a real life carrier pilot.

So has anyone experienced a 27knot headwind in game by setting the carrier to 27knots and no wind? Planes do not act as expected. Seems to be related to what nws mode you are in and sometimes you have to cycle nws to get proper movement. I setup perpendicular to the deck and the plane slid forward on the deck. Just odd stuff.

Doing some testing on differences in set carrier speed to get the proper head wind and just setting headwind higher. But, having 27knots of headwind really helps getting into the groove for sure.

Anyone know what MRT refers to?

MRT = Military Rated Thrust

I tried this today. I created a mission with a carrier steaming at 27 kts with me starting cold and dark on the deck.

Wow, the aircarft was all kinds of wonky trying to weather vane into the wind and trying to taxi was like camels on ice skates.
