Gerrard Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Hi all, I updated DCS with auto-updater last night and afterwards the game started up with no issues.. Go to bed, wake up and try to start game again but just getting a black screen, as if the game is trying to launch but not getting past the splash screen. Anybody else having this problem?. Or found a solution?. Thanks.

Gerrard Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 (edited) Hi, hope this is right.Logs.zip Edited June 16, 2018 by Gerrard File
Gerrard Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Think the problem is that I tried to follow this tutorial - and took out the two dashes as shown. It didn't work so I reinserted the dashes but now it doesn't load past the splash.. I guess I should have saved a copy of the file.. :(
joey45 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 If you use Skates Utility then do a clean up of your directory. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Gerrard Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Hi, I'm sorry about this. I know how to delete the file, but how do I run a repair of DCS? Regards.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 16, 2018 ED Team Posted June 16, 2018 Hi Gerrard I have a guide in my signature for cleanup and repair. but if you just want to do a repair you should have a shortcut in your windows start menu eagle dynamics>DCS>DCS Repair Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Gerrard Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Hi BIGNEWY, You've been very patient and I appreciate it. I'm sorry to say it still won't work. I tried the help in your signature - i.e. Repair and cleanup in the Powershell, but it keeps coming back with error messages and not doing either. Likewise with the Skate utility which will not give me any options. Would it be worth deleting the whole OpenBeta folder and re-installing via website?.. Lol - all I did was delete a couple of dashes and then put them back!.. :surrender:
Gerrard Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Got it!.. got to place 'repair' and 'cleanup' files from your link directly into OpenBeta folder and not Bin folder.. Worked a treat.. Many thanks to Joey and BIGNEWY - this forum is awesome.
