I love Sidearms for the Harrier, but I have question:

Can I salvo these? Ideally, I want to launch four in one go about a second apart.

How do you quickly select and launch against multiple targets? After firing one, I get the searching sound but it won't lock on until I deselect and reselect the weapon.

I feel I have a lot to learn with these.

I don't think you'll be able to get them to do that. They essentially work like a sidewinder that tracks radar emissions rather than heat. So if you were to salvo them, they'd probably all fly at the nearest emitter.

The need to deselect/select them seems to be a bug or something, as I have the same issue. I typically launch one, "notch" or turn 90 degrees to the target, deselect, then re-select, then turn back in to pick up the next target once the first missile has impacted.

Here's a super crappy video of me firing a couple off at some SA8's: https://youtu.be/QvVhxB5M-qA?t=18m45s

I think the deselection is right. Unlike MAVs they don't have the Quantity option (which tells you how many missiles in succession will be slaved to the same target). And yes, they will all go for the strongest radar signal and won't be able to change their target mid-flight. Though shooting a few on one target might be useful if the SAM is capable of shooting down incoming missiles (like SA-15).

The training mission for the Mavericks and Sidearms is almost ready (waiting for the final VOs) and I hope to release it with the next update (so in two weeks).

The new training mission sounds great. Excellent news, BD.

I was planning to salvo to overwhelm defensive missiles. Manually firing them is not a problem.

I'm guessing they would never lock on to airborne radar or jammers, is that right?

AFAIK, no, they wouldn't.

In DCS I already had Magic 2 shooting down incoming R-60, in the past I shot down AGM-88 with R-27, and IRL AGM-88 blew up B-52 tail radar...don’t underestimate DCS world and ARM
