DaveRindner Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 In short my AI wingman , never replies, and never follows instructions. UHF is in preset mode with 251 or 305 frequency on channel 1. Communicating through Main UHF I have yet to hear a reply from AI wingman, though the communications, in flight , appear as solid font, indicating that proper radio mode is being used. This perhaps is RTFM, but I am confused in Mirage. Which radio is used for wingmen, which one is for JTAC, and which is for tower. I thought that same radios as in A-10C, and F-5E, but like I said, I get no replies. UHF - communicate with wingmen (251, 305, etc..) frequencies, airborne FAC. V/UHF- ATC/Tower and JTAC. Either on the ground - ground crew. P.S. Does anyone think that Mirage2KC landing are very easy. For me they are very easy , and I was expecting high speed approach, and high AOA on flare for VV of about 1 m/s. Nose is very stable. Mig-21Bis nose dances a quite a bit on final, F-5E also but somewhat less. My approach speed is 250 knots IAS, slowing down to 180 knots IAS at inner marker, 150-160 at threshold depending on weight, touch down, pop chute or just use breaks. With gear down, a 'gun' cross appears on HUD stabilized at TD point. Fly the path marker into cross at landing speed and config, lands fine. No bent gear and no blown tires, assuming those are modeled in M2KC. I guess the simulated FBW is doing its job.
baltic_dragon Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 This all depends on what is set by the mission designer. He may set any frequency on AM or UHF for the wingman and it should be listed in the briefing. Also, it also is important if you are on Preset or Manual mode. Everything is explained pretty well in the manual for the radios, but I gree they can be confusing. Also, remember that you have to have two separate binding for the Green (main) and Red (aux, top) radios. So if you want to talk to someone on Green radio you push different button (I don't remember how they are called in options, but you'll find them under HOTAS tab). As for the landings - I still find them to be hard :D For more information, please visit my website. jojo Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 (edited) If the AI doesn’t answer, you’re calling him on the wrong radio/ frequency. UHF radio only works with preset channel in UHF frequency range (obviously), set in mission editor. V/UHF radio can work both with preset channel (mission editor again) or manually set frequency. So during the briefing you have to take note of: - who will you need to talk to ? - what are the needed frequencies ? - VHF or UHF ? - preset or manual Most of the time, I keep my flight frequency on UHF preset all the time. I talk to the rest of the world on V/UHF as needed. Manual mode is more flexible. Edited July 4, 2018 by jojo Mirage fanatic ! DaveRindner Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 Jojo Tottally. I am on it. Well at least I think I do anyway. Freqs starting with 1 (132.550 for exp), are U/VHF for tower, ATC, and JTAC Freqs sarting 2 or 3 (251, 305) are UHF for talking with wingmen, own flight, and abn FAC. So at Nellis, U/VHF is set to 132.550, and Nellis does respond. A small bit of improvement since I posted. Radio set to MAN and freq of 132.550 punched in. Flight freq is to 305, or 251, UHF, and regardless of MAN or P(reset), wingman is not responding. Scratching my head, and looking at my switchology. I wish I could recall frequencies from my classes , from Artillery Officer Course (US Army Res), when we training with JTAC(gnd). I think those freqs started with 1, so freq of 1XXX.XX , I ,as FIST (Fire Suppourt Team) lead, would talk to JTAC, if he was remote, and he had special encryption (SINGGARS/ARC) capable radios to talk to either rotary or fixed wing. So if I had a position to call in, I'd set the 8 or 6 digit grid coord to FDC, if I 'wanted' air, that would get transmitted as a grid cord to JTAC, if FDC is down, he would get grid directly from me. SINGGARS was good in this respect. But asking for air meant jack-crap, cause every FIST wants one. 'Couse its sort of cool, seeing A-10A, and F-16's drop training smoke bombs. JTAC would prioritize. I was never in combat, so all our targets are simulated, and 'white hats' the referees and safety guys would tells us what the simulated enemy was. If it was the old, 'T-72s in the open', then it was ICM for effect, send out AIR request with 9-line (in digital format), JTAC would talk air onto those targets. If the simulated target was infantry or mechanized (BTRor BMP), then usually meant that only tube artillery firing ICM . Air was somewhat rare and not as available option to a lowly FIST Lt.
jojo Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Once the frequencies are set correctly you have to use the proper command to trigger each radio, to the default FC3 com key. In control options, HOTAS category: - Main U/VHF Radio SELECT - Aux. UHF Radio SELECT You also have a frequency repeater left of the HUD, with a led turning ON telling you which frequency you are transmitting on. Everything is detailed p80 of the manual. DCS World/ Mods/ Aircraft/ M-2000C/ Doc. About your landing: You are either landing too fast or too heavy. Max landing weight is 11000kg. Your empty weight is 7500kg p, internal fuel 3165kg and fuselage tank roughly 1000kg. The good final speed is...14° AoA. Select APP mode on PCA and put the velocity vector in the middle of the brackets. ] -O- [ If you are heavy you can gain some margin: put the -O- at the top of ] [ With proper trim setting, fly by wire make it very easy.
