getsno Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I have a friend that is interested in Flaming Cliffs. he wants to know if there is a CD version? without using STARFORCE? he doesn't want to unstall such things (SF) on hus computer. and is the CD version can be installed unlimitedly? he thinks that there is a restriction on the amount of installing FC (CD version). he is looking for a normal Sim like all the other Sims out there. the second issue concerning the Black Shark: - does BS will include all the previous versions or this will be a separately version. - he also asked that maybe he should wait BS if it includes all the latest versions? Thanks in advance for your answers people!
britgliderpilot Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 There is a CD version of Flaming Cliffs available, and you can reinstall it as many times as you like. It does, however, use the CD version of Starforce. Sounds like he just needs the full story on SF, rather than the Oe Noes!1!onehundredandeleveen panic tales ;) There is, as yet, no indication as to how Black Shark will eventually ship. There is even less indication as to a final release date. So . . . on that basis, I'd tell him to go ahead and get FC now, it'll be good practice for him. And to answer the question you didn't ask but he inevitably will, yes, it appears to be pretty certain Black Shark will have Starforce as well. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Aeroscout Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 If you install version 1.12b, i think it does not have starforce. or maybe it just looks different. And when you say unlimited installs, do you mean it can be installed on multipal computers? If thats the case, no, it cannot. sorry. EDIT: never mind. it still is starforce. just looks different. sorry PythonOne DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
hitman Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 It has starforce. The upgrade was only for vista users who had to go to starforce.com to update the drivers. 99.998% of us dont have issues with starforce. Ive had MORE problems with Norton than Ive had with starforce. Come to think of it, Ive had more problems with Microsoft Word than Ive had with starforce. My dvd-ram still burns cds, no ones hacked my computer, and nothing pops up on my screen to tell me that all my internet pr0n is bad for my health or whatnot.
Shaman Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Tell your friend to get Web Download of FC instead. It doesn't run that infamous CD-checks driver - its 99,99% safe. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
PythonOne Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 If you install version 1.12b, i think it does not have starforce. or maybe it just looks different. And when you say unlimited installs, do you mean it can be installed on multipal computers? If thats the case, no, it cannot. sorry. what? 1.12b still has starforce and in the case of unlimited installs, there are no limit for the cd version, you could install on multiple computers, you just have to shove in the cd once a week for each computer.
Skopro_PL Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 i didnt think i had a problem with starforce until i saw the 48x burn option disappear from the available burn speed on multiple programs..my max speed now is 16x,and no not using anything other than 52x burning media,so thats not the problem..dont now why that happened but i can tell u it started after FC.. | 8700k @4.9 | Gigabyte Gaming 7 | 32gb Tridentz @3000 | EVGA 1080 TI SC2 | CV1 | VKB MCG PRO [sigpic]https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FeLGqKyJ3K08k3z-7XaegWgRuGRGkKUs/view?usp=sharing[/sigpic]

Cosmonaut Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Just to make it clear: The FC CD only has the CD checker of SF that requires you to place the CD in the drive once a week and that's it. Soo you can install it on more than one PC in your house. I used to have it installed on two PC's for the purpose of checking bugs seeing as my other system was ATi based and my Gaming PC has an Nvidia GC. With the CD version there's are no limits or anything like that when installing so you don't have to worry about installing new hardware or reinstalling windows. IMO you'd have to be crazy or unable to buy the FC CD to even consider purchasing the downloaded version with all of its restrictions. Cozmo. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Minimum effort, maximum satisfaction.
