pablo222 Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 I have installed the lomac gold, and later I have installed the version 1.12a and the 1.12b for my windows vista. When I try to run the game (lomac) a message appears and tells me I need "administratior rights" (I think it works with starforce) and I can't run the game. But I already haver administrator rights. My user account is "administrator type" Another thing. When I installed the 1.12b update, although I chose "overwritte the previous files" a new folder is created on ... "c:\.......\Eagle Dynam" Later I copied those files on my lomac path. Can you answer me about that message that needs rights? Thank you,

Aeroscout Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 right click on the lockon icon, go to properties. click on the compatability Tab, then check the "Run in XP SP2' and the "run as administrator" boxes. Vista sucks. you only have administrative rights if you tell the OS that you want to use them. It's realy dumb. Hope that helps. I may be wrong. I'm saying this from memory as I don't have vista my self. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
pablo222 Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 These are the windows that appear: They ask me to install some libraries (.dll?)and then ask me for administrator rights you're ok, vista is becoming a nightmare...
hitman Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Do as Aeroscout says. You need to run the program as an administrator in order to install the patch. But if you already have LO-FC installed on vista and its already playable, you dont need the patch. All this patch does is just install drivers for Starforce that you HAVE to update when you install it on Vista and play for the first time. Right click on the patch, select properties, select compatibility, in the checkbox that says priviledge level, click "run this program as an administrator".
Prophet Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 you only have administrative rights if you tell the OS that you want to use them. It's realy dumb. Huh, actually users have been asking for it for years now. And the reason for it, isnt dumb. Its just 1 click anyways.
pablo222 Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 I have been answered by Starforce support department because I sent them a email with my problem. I want to thanks them to answer so quickly. So, thank you  . The told me this: Hello, Try to do the following: 1) Right-click on the game's shortcut, select properties and click "Run as administrator"; 2) Run the game; 3) It will ask to reboot the PC; 4) Don't reboot; 5) Run "sfdrvup.exe" from here: http://www.star-force.com/protection/users/ ; 6) Reboot. I haven't tried it yet, but it surely will repair the problem :smilewink: .
hitman Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Funny thing as the latest patch does this...and 2 posts instructing you that you need to run the program as administrator. Next time I wont bother.
pablo222 Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 hitman_214yh, don't be confused. I thank you a lot for answering and for telling me what to do. It's just I looked for a solution in both sides in this forum and in Starforce. I'm happy if I know that if I have a problem, you or someone like you will resolve the problem, so thank you :thumbup::thumbup:
