MARLAN_ Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 In CASE I the "groove" starts when you cross centerline or roll wings level (generally within about 10 degrees) The 3/4 nm only applies when flying straight in, most commonly with CASE III. If the "groove" started at 3/4nm for CASE I you could fly a 500 mile approach and still get a 15 second groove time! 1 Virtual CVW-8 - The mission of Virtual Carrier Air Wing EIGHT is to provide its members with an organization committed to presenting an authentic representation of U.S. Navy Carrier Air Wing operations in training and combat environments based on the real world experience of its real fighter pilots, air intercept controllers, airbosses, and many others.

My bad habit is to roll out in a slight undershoot, so I end up wasting Groove time fixing my lineup, I guess.
