Pilotasso Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 oh wow check this out. Anyone knows the story behind this? just watch the F-16 trying to reach that U-2 over venezuela. BTW didnt I tell you numerous times high altitude perfomance of the real F-16 PWNS that of LOMACs F-15? Heres the proof: http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/malakas/2044/ .
Crusty Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 The U2 was being threatend by mig 21s zoom climbing a looooong time ago, they just couldnt get a lock on as they were basicly on a ballistic trajectory at that point. All this time later, a f16 getting within missile range is no surprise to me. Not that I wholly believe the video portrays that I have always had a soft spot for the U2, but its days of invulnarability from fighters were over 30 years ago oo err...missus:animals_bunny: ** Anti-Pastie**
Force_Feedback Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 And it was known since it was designed, hence the SR-71, that served for a long time, and now the Aurora and maybe some new hypersonic project. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
3Sqn_Fudd Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 1.3nm? I have no supporting evidence but a hunch tells me it was TR-1 bumping the Venezuelan border and it was egressing at the time around 60k feet... OT - It's no fun to fly that coffin corner I bet http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU

Ben Rich ran Lockheed's Skunk Works after Kelly Johnson retired, working on the F-104, the U-2, the CL-400, A-12, YF-12, SR-71, D-12, F-117, and the Stealth Ship . . . . his experiences of all of which are described in the book, complete with comments by pilots from the Air Force, CIA, and Lockheed. It's a hell of a read. Doesn't tell you anything about interceptions by F-16s, but even so . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
