Darcaem Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 I'm slowly learning ME and MOOSE (quite slowly :smartass:), just testing what it can be done. I'm now editting a very simple mission where I must grant air superiority while a flight of A10s brings havoc to the enemy position. It is a bunch of ground targets, air defenses, infantry and static objects. So far, I haven't done any scripting. I see I can set CAS to the A10s and then at the proper waypoint set them to Perform task -> Attack unit (or group). But I have to click one by one and create a new action for each unit or group. Also, I assume the order of the actions sets the priority for the targets? They will try to destroy first the targets of the first action, and so on? My main question is, is there any way (in ME or with scripting) to tell the flight "Destroy everything red within this zone"?
feefifofum Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Delete the default CAS tasking. In Advanced Waypoint Actions, add -> start enroute task -> search then engage in zone. Define the zone radius then click and drag the little triangle in the center to place it. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
Darcaem Posted August 29, 2018 Author Posted August 29, 2018 Oh, thank you! I didn't event think about selecting other task
feefifofum Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018  You can also direct them to engage specific targets in a large group of enemy units, or prioritize the order in which they engage different groups or units. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
Zayets Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Delete the default CAS tasking. In Advanced Waypoint Actions, add -> start enroute task -> search then engage in zone. Define the zone radius then click and drag the little triangle in the center to place it. Works even without deleting default CAS. [sIGPIC]OK[/sIGPIC]
feefifofum Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 It does, but they'll also go after anything else they find outside of the zone. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
Wrench Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 You should be able to set ROE: ONLY DESIGNATED Note: I've never tested this for CAS, but it works in a similar fashion for CAP. Carrier Script.
feefifofum Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 The CAP & CAS taskings are essentially a search-then-engage that covers the entire map, so ROE: ONLY DESIGNATED will not affect the AI's behavior if those tasks are still present. ONLY DESIGNATED is also the default ROE setting which is in place unless you change it, adding this as an action will have no effect on their behavior if it's the only ROE action. You -must- delete the default CAS tasking if you want to restrict the flight's attacks to a particular area. Other limitations, such as the aircraft's flight plan and sensor suite, will affect what an AI flight will detect and engage, but if we're talking A-10s they'll find targets at a significant distance. Darcaem Posted August 30, 2018 Author Posted August 30, 2018 Just with the "search then engage in zone" enroute task worked fine. The A10C fired their mavericks at certaint distance, then orbited the zone dropping bombs until everything was destroyed. Finally they return to base following their route. They did not attack a couple of Ka50 who were orbitting about 5 miles aways of the designated zone.
feefifofum Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018  Glad you got things working as intended. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
enigma6584 Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 feefifofum, I'm going to start calling you the "Gandolf of DCS!" ;) You speak magic when it comes to the mission editor.
feefifofum Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018  Save that title for folks like Grimes, I've just beaten my head against the wall enough to pick up a few things. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
enigma6584 Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Well you and Grimes keep beating those heads, both of you are most helpful. I know I've learned a thing or two from you both with respect to doing things in the missions I create. :)
