In the most recent weekend news it was mentioned that some of the systems such as the air to air radar will be worked on, and no doubt that will introduce a load of new bugs, why not either withhold those updates or put in placeholder systems, why not use for example the F-15's radar modes as a placeholder?

There are other things that could have been substituted in aswell, why not use other aircraft systems as placeholders, such as the A-10's litening pod and MFD functions so that PGM's can be used, and then when the real F/A-18's pod/MFD functions is ready, replace it.

Obvious answer: because it doesn't work the way you think it does and there must be a reason they're doing it that way. Whether it makes sense from your perspective doesn't matter. If you don'tvwant upheaval and systems working/not working, don't buy EA. It's literally guaranteed you'll experience that sort of thing.

Exactly. I'm very excited for the dcs f/a-18, but since I'm not fine with such things (absolutely normal for an early access product) I have not jet bought it.

We have two choices:

1. buy in EA, deal with problems and help the devs to develop

2. accept the delay, wait for a finished product, but then buy and fully enjoy

I'm with the second choice, some other people with the first. Just choose your side.

No point in going backwards though, they're talking about basically temporarily breaking things that they're working on, why not work on those things and not introduce the updates until they're working?

Sorry but I don't buy it that it's a case of "it doesn't work that way", it's all running on the same platform, so there will be a lot of basic functionality that will be common to all modules, and the fact that third party developers are waiting on the air to ground radar to be done by ED proves that is how it works, if each module was entirely its own thing then they wouldn't have to wait for that, so if that's the case for the air to ground radar then it stands to reason it is the case for other parts of the sim aswell.

Common sense : they're not going to disable random parts of the game for no reason. It doesn't matter what your expert opinion on the matter is. If there wasn't a reason to, they wouldn't. They're not obligated to personally walk every other armchair dev through their thought process.

3rd party devs build their module off a dev sdk provided by ED. So, yeah, they have to wait if there is a whole new system coming in. They cannot be given what ED doesn't have. Just because two programs are coded in the same language doesn't mean you can copy paste parts interchangeably without having to make additional substantial alterations. If a 'jury rig' requires substantial coding to even make it work, then doing so would be a blatantly stupid thing to do in the first place.

In conclusion, sit down and be patient. It doesn't matter how you think they should run their business. Don't update if you don't want to deal with it.
