VKB's GunFighter MCG-Pro and its essential key bindings for flying F/A-18

Want to pick some brains here on the forum:

I have :

(1) VKB's GunFighter MCG-Pro w/brake lever;

(2) VirPil's MongooseT-50 throttle (received their serial #000008(!) last week)

(3) MFG's Crosswinds Pedals (another piece of classy workmanship by Milan)

(4) obviously TrackIR5;

(4) And for now, exclusively starting to sweat it it out in DCS's F/A-18C module

Now, in-game the F/A-18 has a plethora of key bindings available. My question relates specifically to what essential key-bindings do gents use here, and find useful, for the VKB Stick/F-18 specifically, given that I have so far:-

(a) the Brake lever assigned (==>wheel brakes)

(b) the Pinkie push button (==>NSW engage)

© the 2-stage Trigger (==>Fire/release, obviously)

(d) and the Flip-up Trigger guard lever (==> Master Arm on/off)

Any thoughts/ ideas appreciated, as to assigning the flightstick's:-

(i) Thumb 5-way HAT;

(ii) Circular Big (Rubber) POV scroll;

(iii) Bottom Middle HAT (BM HAT);

(iv) Top Middle HAT (TM HAT)

(v) Side 5-way HAT;

(vi) and the 3 buttons (1 Red and 2 grey's) ....

Obliged in advance.

Sincerely,

Chuck's Hornet Guide is a great reference for setting up the controls:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q2vH0WLm5mdu2U3GX8AkB1z6iIP-I_sF/view

I used it as reference for setting up my VKB Gunfighter MCG Pro stick, and Warthog Throttle.

Use the Toe Brakes on the Crosswinds for brakes left and right, and add a button press to the VKB Gunfighter Paddle.

http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2868#p29042

I use the button press for Auto Pilot/Nose Wheel Steering Disengage.

You can still leave the paddle as axis as well to use in other modules, I use it as axis for brakes on Spitfire.

The Crosswind Pedals have toe brakes? Why do you use the VKB lever for brakes?

I'm no expert,.. barely a rookie. But here's my setup. Of course I have modified my stick to my liking. Like adding that button on the brake lever; Making the 'Master Mode' hat axis 'Abs' (not Rel) so it re-centers for my TDC. Changing the (left) other hat from axes to buttons. So, depending on how anyone had tweaked their stick, their layout may not work for you unless you do that...

I also found out that you can setup that Master Mode hat from POV to act as the keyboard Numpad. Even sending Ctrl, Alt, Win, Shft keys! And also setting it so that the center button short press can be a button! So, I am thinking of making that my TDC and also my Snapview hat. And setting the button as the ground stabilize? (not sure if that will work) It's worth trying so I can use more buttons. And I'm sure I'll make changes as I learn this bird.

I would also like to see other's setups/assignments. :thumbup::music_whistling:

Thanks for this.

Just fyi, I have reworked my setup since I posted that pic. This works much better now that I know better how to fly the 18.

Thank you so much. I just found this thread. I upgraded to a VKB Gunfighter MkIII yesterday and I'm still rocking the x56 throttle. Exactly what I was looking for to get started.
