Spitty Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Hi guys.Been an exciting and challenging couple of months.Due a request by a couple of guys who needed some realistic, functioning parts for their P51 flight sims I proceeded to get knee deep in aircraft drawings, manuals and pilfering any info I could find online..Many thanks to Kelly and Stang4me as their initial info was invaluable to start production.First things is there is not a lot of drawings available for all the parts needed to do a complete throttle as parts were a mix of B and D or simply could not be found.Even with the parts manual diagram there were differences between different blocks of Mustangs. Also thanks to Kellys detective work I was able to get some original type screws and bolts. After initially drawing it all up in CAD then in 3D a design started to make sense so major components could be started in the 3D printer and the larger sheetmetal aluminium parts fabricated.Eventually as I started assembling parts things didnt work 100% so a process of redesign and fine tuning parts needed to be done.Especially with the splined cylinders and the length of the centre lock axle. Also I had to change materials on the centre threaded bush..This was done to ensure the friction knobs at the front of the assembly worked as needed to lock the handles in position. Also the K14 twist handle needed looking at as it needed to turn a bike cable to work the K14 gunsight wheel. If anyone has any questions or interested in one please PM me and Im quite happy to answer questions.

Bazooka Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 Im waiting for mine to arrive and after Ive had some play time with it I'll be doing a review. Im really impressed with the workmanship I've seen in the pictures so far. This should be a welcome addition to any P-51 pit.

Spitty Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Just gauging some interest in a basic "mechanics" pack of parts for the throttle that guys put together themselves.Might be an easier and cheaper option for some guys.
adrianstealth Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 yes i'd maybe prefer to build myself anyhow, also it keeps cost down
dmwierz Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Did anything ever come of this effort? I've been browsing the forum, and these "P-51 Throttle Projects" seem to start off with a ton of enthusiasm, then they just fade away. i9-9900K @5.1Ghz w/ 32GB RAM, RTX2080 Super w/ 8G, Samsung Odyssey VR HMD, 1 TB SSD, VKB Gladiator MKII, TM TWCS throttle, Saitek Pro Yoke, Saitek Throttle Quadrant x2, CH Pro Pedals, Obutto Ozone
