derbynew Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 (edited) Hi, I did several tests and finally found the best graphics settings. Core I5-9600k at 4.8Ghz Memory Corsair Vengeance XPS 32GB MSI Nvidia RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8GB MSI Gaming Edge AC Z390 See attachments. Essentially I have FXAA on in NVidia MSAA 2x amd anisoptric 8x in DCS, texture object shadows are set to default (important!) I use 144Mhz Screen, so I use Fast VSync (My monitor is freesync not gsyc), so you will need to adjust according to your specs Would be awesome to get feedback on recommendations you guys have to make the graphics awesome. My main issue was shimmering on far away building where there is a lot of lines. I fly the helicopters, so flying low you notice these things. imacken Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Freesync doesn’t work with nVidia GPUs. Or, have you found some kind of hack? Backy 51 Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 What did you upgrade from the 2070 and how is the 2070 performance-wise? I don't need no stinkin' GPS! (except for PGMs :D) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
derbynew Posted November 5, 2018 Author Posted November 5, 2018 Correct, freesync does not work, hence I use NVidia V-Sync set to "Fast". I now have my monitor set to 100Mhz and FPS in game set to 100fps which stays constant, so no tearing :) Romiko Derbynew --------------------------------------------------------------- Intel® Core i5-9600K CPU @ 4.8GHz Corsair Vengeance XMP 32GB - CMW32GX4M4C3000C15 MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Gamzing Z 8GB MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC Motherboard NZXT H500 Case EVGA 650W P2 Power Supply NH U12S CPU Cooler - 2 fans 2 Inlet fans - Noctua 2 outlet fans - Noctua
derbynew Posted November 5, 2018 Author Posted November 5, 2018 So, here is how i avoid tearing. ----autoexec.cfg---- options.graphics.maxfps = 100 affinity_mask = 0 Nvidia Settings -> VSync -> FAST My FPS is always 100 now and my monitor is 100 MHZ. (Changed from 144 to 100). So zero tearing occurs. derbynew Posted November 5, 2018 Author Posted November 5, 2018 I ran Memtest86 3DMark Heaven Memtest showed corrupt memory, so i swapped it out and the new sticks passed. 3dmark showed a fault graphics card, so i swapped it out and got a new one. Crazy but true, had two brand new fault parts. ALWAYS test your hardware when you do a new build. Happy to get tips on making the graphics better :) As I mentioned since I do not have g-sync, i limit fps to 100, its a great compromise. uist1 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 What does your FPS do when you are flying low over towns and trees? I have more or less the same rig as you but I have a stock I7 8700K. Getting 70 to 100 at medium to high level but down low I’m 60 to 49 ish FPS. I run SSAA at 1.5 and msaa at 2 in game. I feel I need both for the looks
Chinga Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 running an old i5-4670k @ 4.7 msi armor o/c 2070. no msaa..ssaa 1.5 fxaa enabled frames locked at 60 and stays there even down low and action going on.
uist1 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I’m getting it dropping right down to 40 on some parts of the Caucasus map. No amount of tweaking I’m doing seems to help. I’m not really wanting to turn off msaa in game because I think it looks nicer then the control panel settings. Got fxaa enabled in control panel and enchanted anti aliasing enabled, fast v sync and that’s it. 144hz monitor.
