My Impressions of the WarBRD

Hey all, I just received my WarBRD and let me first say, WOW. But that “wow” does not come without its drawbacks.

 

Overall, for standard users who are coming from an NON extended TMWH, you will be THOROUGHLY pleased. I’ve had a TMWH for nearly a decade and VPC have quite simply come up with an amazing product that almost can be described as a force feedback. It’s precise, smooth and amazing. Anyone who wishes to upgrade their TMWH base will be thoroughly pleased with the WarBRD. To be clear, in standard setups, WarBRD is superior to the TMWH gimble... hands down.

 

However, a HUGE bit of caution here for those with joystick extensions and using the TMWH grip. DO NOT buy this product. The weight of the TMWH grip is far too high for anything beyond a couple of inches. Even with the heavy springs and soft center cams the stick has too much weight and does not center well. VPC’s website does caution using extensions with their joystick mount but does not properly call out extensions in general; especially the weight of the TMWH - they should. As of now I have put the base on the shelf until they release new cams and springs to assist with this. I’m back to using my TMWH with heavy spring for the time being. That being said, if you want to fly with your fingertips, you can certainly do this with this setup. I however do not.

 

So for my purposes, in my simpit (link in my signature), I’m very disappointed with the WarBRD. However, once the Mongoose T50 is back in stock I’m going to pick one up and see if the weight and centering is better (or Hornet grip gets released).

 

Hopefully this helps people decide who are on the fence, with or without an extension.

Mongoose T50 is discontinued which is a shame, WarBRD doesn't play well with extensions.

I think the problem is that the TM has a WAY too heavy of a stick that is made from cheap metal anyway. The F18 stick should cure all this and make it a nice combo with the WarBRD. I have the TM, the FSSB R3, the WarBRD and find I am using the WarBRD the most.

How is it with a T50 stick and extended? With the WH Grip I use a 125mm extension. I imagine I would go down to a 75mm extension with how much taller the T50 is.
