Musicman2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 I'm getting a constant problem starting free flight or a mission with the rotor blades flying off!!! It doesn't matter what I load up whether its a default flight or mission the rotor blades fly off. You can see them fly off on a outside view. I've tried repairing DCS and that doesn't fix it. I've tried repairing the UH-1H which repairs sometimes and I can see a new pair of blades on but when starting they just spin off.
Jester986 Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Whats going on when it happens? There are a few ways you can cause the blades to come off yourself, negative G's, wild collective movements, over speeding the rotor, or over speeding the aircraft.
Sharkku Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 I have this problem with missions starting in the air. No matter what I do, the heli always does a huge heeling before I can get it under control. Doesn't matter what position your stick and collective is in at the start. The sudden maneuver often most probably causes mast bumping and the subsequent detachment of the rotor. Mast bumping occurs when the plane of the rotor disk becomes too angled from the rotor mast. This causes the inner edges of the hub to strike the mast and break it off. It's caused by excessive cyclic input under low or negative disk load.
rrohde Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 I had similar issues with the Hotas syncing before mission start with the Huey, so I had to turn that off. Can you check if that's enabled in your settings, and if so, disable it and try again? Sharkku Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Thanks for the suggestion, rrohde! It was indeed set to sync at start. Unfortunately, turning it off didn't help. There is still a huge yaw to the right at start.
slipstream21 Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Start missions on the ground in that case.
Sharkku Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Yeah, I could edit the missions of course. But I'm talking about some of the instant action missions. Kind of want to be able to start them from the air...
slipstream21 Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Yeh fair one. I actually love the startup procedure for the Huey, but I see what you mean.
flappybird Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 It is possible to recover from the controller sync delay at the start of the mid air attack missions. At start make sure your collective is set to max and do not pitch down until you regain control of the aircraft. Lot's of fancy feet and stick work.
