David OC Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 (edited) Anyone knows how to fly a minimum radius turn with the F-18 ? What speed and how many G‘s !? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk Sustained...? I believe it's 360kts, just pull to hold this number. These are the only charts I've seen about this https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217414&page=2 IvanK (ED Tester) in that thread is a former F/A-18 pilot, so 360kts Edited November 17, 2018 by David OC i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. Tenkom Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Be careful not to confuse turn radius and turn rate. If you want the minimum radius you probably want to fly as slow as possible without falling out of the sky.
Tenkom Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 The charts were about turn rate. OP asked about turn radius. I just wanted to clear up any confusion.
Figaro9 Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Your right to clear things up. Best turn radius is below corner @ Lift-limit. Near stall speed, you are not able to maintain stabilized energy state. Radius speed band is from appr. 150 to 300kts. The charts by the way are about energy-maneuverability not only about turn rate. It is also about turn radius.
