Bazmack Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I can afford either 16GB 3200mhz CL16 or 32GB 2666mhz CL16 RAM. Which would you recommend? i5-8600k (will try to OC), Asrock z370 Extreme4, EVGA 1070ti
javelina1 Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Bitmaster will be here shortly... :-) I think the suggestion is to go Qty, then latency & speed. But he'll correct/confirm. For me, I'd go the 32GB, that speed range can't change it much. BitMaster Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 32GB.2666 over 16G-anyCL anytime !!! With Intel, the difference is really an Ego-Trip foremost. Yes, maybe 2-5 fps somewhere in "special" situations, otherwise..get the 32GB kit. If you run Ryzen it does matter, this above is for INTEL based systems ONLY ! BitMaster Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 RAM can be overclocked like a CPU? IF you have the following: - Patience - Skills - A good mobo - A nice IMC in your CPU - Good RAM modules If you buy a Samsung B-die at 3000 or 3200...you aint gonna OC much as those B-dies are the lowest quality among them. If they were any better they'd end upo as 3866 or such. Make no mistake, they are so heavily binned theses days YMMV a lot.
