itarrow Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Hey there, as I'm flying just in SP, I've tried pretty much all the downloadable missions/campaign (SEDLO !) from the DCS user files site, and I've tried also the Liberation dynamic campaign (which unfortunately can be flown just from ground, as taking off from the Tarawa is impossible for wingmen due to payloads) and I'm now flying just the FA18 as I've got bored of flying always same missions for the AV8B. I've recently discovered the DCE campaigns which I'm now using for the FA18 (none available for the Harrier) and that weren't available on DCS official user files section, so I'm wondering if I'm missing further content for the AV8B... any other campaign or mission which I should try that is not available on DCS user files section ?
ZeroReady Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 I've only been working on Vulcan Forge, but with the current harrier bugs (no CCRP bombing, no interval setting, firing all rockets at once instead of just one etc) I don't know if it's worth it to invest too much time in the harrier at this point.

I understand that the Mission Editor is a bit complicated and some DCS users dont intend to learn it, but if you are not attracted towards the Multiplayer side of DCS, then you should at least learn the bare minimum of the editor. That would allow you to pick, say, a Mission created for the F-5 or F-18, and edit the aircraft type, changing it into a harrier. You will likely have to also learn how to change the aircraft weapon loadout, but that's it .. you now have a brand new Mission for your Harrier :) Some missions intended for the A-10C may also be able to be edited into harrier's mission .. it depends on the target type and ranges, as the Harrier has much lower endurance, but its a start. itarrow Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 I've only been working on Vulcan Forge, but with the current harrier bugs (no CCRP bombing, no interval setting, firing all rockets at once instead of just one etc) I don't know if it's worth it to invest too much time in the harrier at this point. The F18 module has similar (if not worst) limitations, however 2 DCE campaigns has been ported for it and there is plenty of material: I am not sure that this is the problem. Learning the mission editor could be an option: as I have really few time to play I prefer to learn aircrafts rather than the mission editor, maybe I am too lazy but I want to have fun during my limited quality time (for gaming/summing).
kingsnake11 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 My experience and 2 cents worth from a newbee. Regardless of the limitations, the user files in my opinion have some great single, multiplayer, and campaign files. I have mainly used the f-18 missions as both a starting point to learn to fly the aircraft better and to work my way through the systems. I even made a number of my own missions to learn the mission editor...and yes...found it has a bunch of bugs too. Just learning the systems of these aircraft is complex and takes time and rather than wander around, the missions have helped focus the learning curve for me. I actually uploaded one of the missions I made to the user files too. Also, it gives you a chance to modify the user missions to reflect your own preferences and such. For example, there is one mission where you have to use dumb bombs to attack a well defended airbase. After a few tries you realize that 1) no one in real life would do this unless it was back in my day and 2) no matter what you try, you die with the way it's set up. Fix was to add a small flight of sead harriers, timed to arrive just before the strike, and viola...a doable and survivable mission. So yeah... enjoy the hard work folks have done and uploaded to the user files. lots of good mods, addons, and docs.
Gary Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Just type "Falklands" into the user file search. I've tried a couple which were really good. Regards, Gary I5 - 1TB SSHD, 256 SSD - Nvidia 1070 - 16gb ram - CV1
