WindyTX Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Watched your stream guys great job reading some other posts glad I missed the Chat as I was watching on a TV. I've seen a OP Sqn pilot unable to refuel before a Red Flag mission and have to take whatever gas he had left into the mission, AAR is very different with the pressure on and everyone watching. My only concern was I spent the whole stream hoping to see the back Cockpit but it was a no show, would you be able to comment. QuiGon Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 They commented during the stream, saying that the rear cockpit will gets its own dedicated video. WindyTX Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 Hmm ok I missed that but still a bit odd as I thought they were able to jump into the back seat and it would have been nice to see it once in the first Livestream. IceFire Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 As far as we are aware, we cannot jump in the backseat, while in flight, in a multiplayer setting. Only in single player. If you're a pilot, you're a pilot and have to stay there unless you choose a new bird. I didn't realise there was anyone in the back. TBH if they can't show the back at this stage I guess we will be waiting a while. My other concern was that Jester sounded a little too good with his pick ups at 89 miles but it is very early days. Eihort Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 I was getting a little annoyed as the backseat has been very scarce in all these videos and features. I'm planning on being a dedicated RIO so I was kinda wondering what I was going to be working with.
ben_der Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 ... I remember them saying there was a rudimentary autopilot for when you went into the back Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk Singleplayer that is. You cannot switch Seats in Multiplayer on the fly.
QuiGon Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Singleplayer that is. You cannot switch Seats in Multiplayer on the fly. Depends on how this gets implemented. It is possible in the Huey for example. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
backspace340 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Depends on how this gets implemented. It is possible in the Huey for example. Huey doesn't have proper multi-crew though - a player can't jump in the co-pilot seat - so stuff like the L-39/Gazelle would be better comparisons. Can players hot-switch between seats in the L-39/Gazelle in multiplayer? The other limitation may be controls - in things like the L-39 the control mappings are the same and in the Gazelle/Huey you can still fly from the co-pilot's seat, but in the Tomcat they're completely different. They've said there are separate entries in the control config for each seat, so you can use the same bindings to do two completely different things. That might have something to do with why you can't hot-swap.

Naquaii Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 I was indeed in the backseat of Victory 1-1 during the live-stream. We'd very much like to show you the RIO pit as well and as soon as it's polished enough we're going to show it to you guys, don't worry! In regards to swapping seats it's like others have mentioned here, atm you can't swap between seats that are true multicrew seats in mp, that's a sp only feature. This might eventually change I guess but it's up to ED.
WindyTX Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Thanks for the response as I said I didn't realize that anyone was in the back. So if memory serves you were in the lead Aircraft of the A2A pair. Are you the guy that called "commit" on the bandit, I was impressed it's been 16 years since I have heard anyone call that. Naquaii Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Can't remember who called that tbh, wasn't me though. I stuck mostly to reporting radar contacts and kills.
Knubinator Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I think they have something special for the backseat planned., Maybe a dedicated stream to showcase it. After all, that's where the real magic is going to be, and part of me thinks the backseat is going to be the more difficult seat to really nail down. So I don't think it's because it's not ready to show off, but that they're keeping it for a special thing. Honestly, it's got me more excited not being able to see it yet. i7 4790k @ 4.4, 32GB RAM, RX480 GTR I fly it all.
