DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 This is my favorite module. Bar none. According to Internet, British and GR7/9 variants used 2 X 25mm ADEN cannon instead of 25mm Equalizer on USMC variant. Both use same 25mm. So there would not be a need to rewrite ballistic tables. Has anyone given thought to that? Any news on aviator body for AV-8B. Hopefully with USMC and UK/NATO flight suit? Also, GE GAU-12 firing sound feels wrong. Feels weak and slow. It should be a similar BRRRP to GAU-8 in A-10C. GAU-12 is 5 barrel rotary, GAU-8 is 7. Perhaps it would be a slightly weaker BRRRP. AV-8B is amazing. Both real and RAZBAM sim version. But lets face it, even with no stores or luggage, it is not the cleanest of an airframe. All sorts of things sticking out. FLIR cowling on node bridge, IFR probe on port side. Front nozzles which are soft box shape, thankfully they are in the lee of slipstream during flight. Outrigger landing gear. Huge box shaped pylons. RCS puffer jets. All topped by those enormous intakes Comparing to P.1127 and Kestrel, which were sleek clean , albeit toothless, aircraft, AV-8B and GR7/9 are laundry machines. With two tanks on inboard, gun and DECM pod on belly, large A/G weapon on mid-wing station, and 2 X AIM9M on outboard, our HarrierII has all the sleekness of a Maytag. Amusing that little weather-vane , to gauge side slip, and relative wind direction, is likely ,along with Pitot tube, is a critical instrument/sensor in itself.

But ironically the UK MoD was too cheap to acquire enough LIDS strakes thus you often see GR.7 & GR.9's with gunpods fitted - but the gunpods are empty! Also I'm not so sure about the ballistics being the identical between weapons! Intel i5-8600k | EVGA RTX 3070 | Windows 10 | 32GB RAM @3600 MHz | 500 GB Samsung 850 SSD
Harry.R Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 The problem was that we moved from 30mm Aden of the 'baby Harriers' to the then new NATO 25mm round that meant a complete redesign of the Aden. There was a difficulty reaching a target weight and we never got the cannon, although the aircraft flew with the cannon pods they carried a representative weighted shape model in each iirc.
