Default DDI Pages for A/A and A/G mode ?

Will we be able to set different default DDI Pages for the A/A and A/G mode ?

 

So that if you are in A/G mode and quick select an AIM-120C via the Sensor Control Switch you automatically get the Radar page on the right after having set the another page on the same right DDI in A/G mode before ?

Is this a thing in the real Hornet ?

 

Right now you always have to reselect the Radar page after switching between modes. :/

I don't think it's realistic.

 

If you are attacking A/G and got eyes on an enemy fighter you can switch to AIM120 and its on visual mode. You can fire it as "Maddog". If there is another fighter you can't lock visual and you need radar (BVR Situation) you have enough time to set right DDI to Radar.

 

That's the way it is.

 

But a nice Idea for Arcade-Fighters?!

As far as I can remember there was some confusion in the fighter pilot podcast in which they tested DCS by a real F18 pilot. He was quite surprised that after switching to A/A Mastermode the right DDI was not switched to the radar subpage automatically.

 

This idea might not be as unrealistic as it seems to some.

We don't have it yet, but there's a shortcut with the sensor select switches to put the radar screen on the right DDI (and stores page on the left DDI). As long as there's not a page that can take TDC control there already (e.g. not the HSI, SA, FLIR or Radar formats) or the Stores page, if we sensor select right it'll switch to the Radar page and if we sensor select left it'll show Stores. If the HSI or SA page is there, it switches between them. Just gotta wait for ED to implement it - they might be waiting till more screens are finished (like the SA page).

Correct, that Data Cartridge for the Viper stores primary, secondary and tertiary modes for both displays in A/A and A/G modes, so that the preferred screen is displayed when that master mode is selected.

On top of that you have the D/F - BVR rockerswitch on the F-16 throttle that will pull up specific weapons and sensor modes.
