Special Operations JTAC exercise in Yuma Arizona.

Excellent 60 minutes of a dynamic scenario conducting close air support.

Stack.

2 x Ch-146 Griffons providing CCA and lift
1 x CF-188 CAS platform.  Doing NTISR and delivering 2 x LGTR simulating GBU-12 and gun runs
1 x Contracted air simulating a MQ-1
1 x CP-140 providing ISR

There was a CC-130 tanker in there somewhere but I really don't care to hear about those guys on the radio provided they stay in their block!

Just passing it on in case there's some interest here, but I've done a rather robust script that offers a CAS 5-line called in by troops in contact. 

Works with FW and RW, multiplayer, etc. Highly configurable.

Mainly a flight of A-10s but squeezed an F18 quickly and a 14 to add some spice!

STARTS IN 30 MINUTES!!!!

 

OP Slates will immediately present a Short and sweet battlefield handover.  Listen carefully as the JTAC takes the Brief, stack, mark and control.  Routing and safety of flight is immediately established and its not long correlation (talk ons) with night aided devices begins, 9 lines and 5 lines are pumped out to soften the AO (Area of Operations) with LIVE MK82, 20mm from a CF-188 (C/S Kokanee "Canadian beer so you know its good") and 7.62 from door mounted machine guns on CH-146s.

Once the AO is softened up a show of force and strafe passes from RW make for a safe extraction.  (Please note for administrative purposes and the reality of safe practice the extraction really isnt sexy)  Sorry, not sorry.

Its Sunday and maybe you've got 40 mins.  In Oct 20.2020 I was part of a podcast with "With you with me".

Continuing the CAS execution check list for the Type 1 control series, post the "talk on" correlation video I give you the ATTACK!

The attack includes brief dialog about a reattack and some of its possibilities as I go through four quick passes of AGM65s, GBU54s and of course.... GUNS!!!

Post Attack one of the 12 steps CAS procedure is the BDA and I quickly glance over it.  If you want to get into the weeds on that BDA subject, I invite you to read the 3-09.3 CAS Pub.

Post yesterday's post we focused on BOT (Bomb on Target).  This is when the pilot sees the target with their eyes or sensors.

In this case today we cover the attack procedure, executing the 9 line with BOC (Bomb on coordinate)

ED thinks they can challenge users with their pretty clouds, but that means nothing when you have precise coordinates and GPS guided munitions!!!!

Enjoy and add another tool to your kinetic toolbox.

Bomb on coordinate with NO JDAMS?  No problem!  Drop the laser guided munition via coordinates into the "laser basket" and watch the JTAC lase that weapon in.  Cleared HOT!!!
