jsr9597 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 How do I know what parking spots are for fighters/attack aircraft vs tankers/cargo/airliners? Dave
Emmy Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 The Mission Editor won't allow you to place aircraft in spots that are too small for them but generally speaking, sizes are relative and pretty easily figured out by eye. Wider centerlines between slots = Heavies Narrower centerlines between slots = Fighters Spots for Helicopters are also "self selecting" (usually a far more limited number of places available on a ramp) unless you have them take off from the ground. Grimes Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 The limits are more of a 3d box for the spawnable area, so it is entirely dependent on the physical size of the aircraft and parking spot as specified in the game files. Generally its distinctive between large, medium, and small aircraft. But it is entirely possible for a Su-27 to fit in a spot while the Su-34 can't simply because it is slightly to long. Some slots are exclusive to planes or helicopters. For instance any hanger spawn doesn't allow for helicopters to spawn in there. Large: C-130, E-3, A-50 Medium: Flankers, A-10 Small: F-5, Mig-21 Easiest way to tell is to place the aircraft you want, or even the largest aircraft you want at a give base, set take-off from ramp, and then note that the parking list will filter out available parking spots. As you are aircraft the selectable parking list gets smaller. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Basically if it's physically space occupied by the model, I've no chance to change some .lua code to make him park also in Persian Gulf airport? DeepDrummer Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Thanks for the information. I spent far too long trying to figure out what I did wrong in a whole campaign by using misleading parking spots. My # 2 (Spitfire) spawned flying off into the distance instead of start from ramp as I wished in Normandy from St Pierre du Mont. Any small aircraft parked in spot # 64 started in the air and did not respond to comms. I tried it with 4 spitfires and even with 4 christien whatever (tiny plane). Spots 63, 64, 65 and 66 were desired but I had to change parking locations. Maybe one spot should be removed or something needs to change there. I'd bet I couldn't even park my electric RC carbon cub in spot 64 as it stands today. Minor details. Many hours wasted trying of figure out what I did wrong. I will change spots quickly when that happens from now on. Thanks a lot. In this case there should either be only 3 spots available there or allow 4 small spits to park there. I'd call it a tiny bug. DeepDrummer Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Anything parked at spot 64 in Saint Pierre du Mont will air start even with it set to take off from ramp. I'll go report that. Win 10 pro 64 bit.
