did you build it youself? And how long has the new computer been running the OS?

Because sometimes when people are building these personal comps, they might overlook the fact the power supply might not be enough to support the rig, or there's a compatibility problem...etc. I'm not saying its that problem but it wouldn't hurt to double check if there is anything conflicting with each other. If you can't get into safe mode....that's a pretty bad sign. I was going to recommend doing that, and remove your graphics driver and try a new one.

THank you so much for your insanely quick response SuperkungFu :D and yes i have a thousand watt power supply (evil awesome face :P ) muhahahaa and i did build it myself and i'm perty sure i didnt look over anything but i think i fixed it.... here is what i did. i edited the startup options file and put /SOS behind it..... it changes the loading screen at startup but it seems to have worked for now... but i might change it back to default to see if it still is not working.... however in case it is still not working what other problems could it be?

If i were to guess, it could have been a video driver screwing up. Actually, mine just had a similar problem, my MiG-29 cockpit is transparent so I'm going to upgrade my video driver, usually that fixes my problem.

Problem can be anything. So many things in both software and hardware can cause a freeze that it's nearly impossible for us to sit at our desk and tell you what the problem may be.

You have to figure out the problem and best way is always the process of elimination. Start troubleshooting one thing at a time. Make sure you have latest BIOS. And see if there're any error beeps. Double check all connections. Go into BIOS and monitor the CPU temp in BIOS...

I've built many systems and you know what... sometimes, new system builds just does some weird stuff at first.

nevermind i just had to re install my CCC program and it worked.. thanks for your help everyone....

I have that /SOS ending still on my Boot.INI file so should i take that back off to how it was to see if my PC starts normaly without freezing?

do you have RAID setup?

I went through some PC trouble few weeks back.

I had my system running for over 6 months when suddenly it started rebooting on it's own. At first I thought I've messed up something because I had E6600 overclocked to 3GHz since I bought it and I thought CPU was busted... but then I cuold still load OS and everything would be fine again untill again I would get a reboot... just like that.

Then I thought it could be the PSU so I went and replaced 620W PSU I had with 850W one (they are both quality PSU). I would still get reboots on occasions...

Then I suspected my sound card was busted because eventually I would get erorrs loading sound drivers saying some files for X-Fi were corrupted/missing... so I went for OS reinstall.

That worked to some point and after reinstalling everything I would still get restarts. Then after checking internet forums I read CoreTemp v0.95 was giving some people crashes so I changed that to v0.94 (I still use this one) but I still had restarts.

Then I tried the on board sound and after reinstalling everything again I would still get restarts.

So then I went for possibility that my RAID was not setup properly and I went through whole deal of chaning different configurations (using different headers) and eventually I got RAID setup properly and reinstalled OS and other stiff again...

I also went and replaced the X-Fi with another card (same model) and everything was working fine for a few days (I tried installing only basic stuff, testing for a while and if I had no problems I'd go and install something else... and test again for a while)

I ended up updating BIOS, changing PSU, new sound card, changed sound card drivers, video card drivers, RAID setup (using different: Intel chipset on motherboard instead od ASUS Ez-Backup. By the way I use P5W DH Deluxe motherboard). I even went to no overclocking at all... the whole lot.

Then I realised first time I got this restart is on the same day I installed TouchBuddy software as I wanted to test it before I got a touchscreen.

So having final suspicion on this touchbuddy/touchscreen I posted at our 3Sqn forums and Ruggbutt was kind enough (and very helpfull) to provide me with link with different touchscreen driver.

After I tried it out and not using driver that came with the touchscreen, problem was gone. It's been over a week now that I've done this (actually more like 2 weeks I think) and I haven't had any more glitches.

So... to make a final conclusion from this long post... it could really be so many things that could be causing this. Since you have a new system it may as well be that some of your hardware is playing up. I wouldn't exclude that posibility. If you have, borrow someone's video card, sound car... or even install OS with absolute basic stuff only... and test.

The go install one by one... and test for a day or two see if you have any issues. Once you install something and you get some issues again... you'll be very close to what's causing you this.

I hope this was helpfull...

WOW LMAO jesus Kuky! man i would have ripped my own face and hair off if that happened to me! i wouldnt have had the patience you had LOL thanks for the info.... by putting the /SOS after my boot.INI file it seems to be working fine now... but i dont know if i should take that off to what it was to see if it boots normaly. it might just be because i'm doing all this hardware stuff at one time?
