Negative filter masking more than the intended area in 3d space or is not properly scaling with client resolution setting. Same feel like when I was messing with after effects.

 

Or a duplicate case logic value as to which display is currently Mav

That is odd. Nice bug though, must be way less annoying in VR on night mission, way less bright for the eyes half an inch of the HMD, since adjusting brightness will also dim the text of the MPCD. :) Reminds me my smart phone GPS app, getting a sorta filter at night not to be too bright, not entirely invertted colors, but a somekind of filter...
