golfsierra2 Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 http://www.allgame.com/cg/agg.dll?p=agg&sql=3:26650 From the description I learned that "SU-27 Flanker: Squadron Commander's Edition" was released in 1997 before Flanker 2.0 (1999). Anybody here who flew this simulation ? kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]
thesystem Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 i still have it....:megalol::thumbup: DCS World, A10C, AV8B, M2k, FA18C, FC3, MIG21
Aeroscout Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 i saw a vid of it on youtube or google video a while back... EDIT: Here it is. http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=Flanker+1.5 If it was the upgrade, is it infact 1.5? that's what i searched. BTW, can you get it anywhere still? I have an old computer that might be able to play it. (and it would be nice just to have. it would complete the series for me.) DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
RvETito Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I have all the series- original 1.0 CD, 1.5 update, original 2.0 CD with all the patches starting from 2.03a, then 2.5 and 2.51. I'm even still keeping the 2.51 installed on my new computer. Not that I've launched it recently but I have a lot of sentiments about it... The 1.0 could run at Pentium 90 CPU, it was a great sim, the best out there before the DX and textures invasion. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=

I keep seeing a dusty Commander's Edition on the bottom shelf of a game store in town, second hand . . . I just don't think I have a computer slow enough to run it anymore. Ouch. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
golfsierra2 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 I just don't think I have a computer slow enough to run it anymore. Ouch. You could try to underclock your CPU. BTW would be interesting to see, how slow a XP or Vista machine can run... eh.. walk... eh... crawl...:thumbsup: kind regards, Raven.... Revvin Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I still have my Flanker 1, Flanker 1.5 and Flanker 2 discs. If I recall correctly Flanker 1 was the first Win95 only game I owned. I don't seem to remember it comparing badly graphically to other jet sims of that era and it was certainly one of the better sims for the feeling of flying even back then. The mission disk which was then later bundled as the 'Commanders Edition' with the original game brought it up to v1.5 I think it also added new shading techniques back then to improve the 'smooth' look of the 3d models, all that before the fancy 3d accelerators such as the Voodoo and later the TNT cards.
BBushe Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 the graphics were more basic in terms of appearance, but more detailed in terms of working bits actually on the aircraft, if you know what I mean. It reminded me of a military sim were more emphasis was placed on the accuracy of the model, than textures (which I don't think it had any of...) It was great! I used to be on the flanker mailing list...but it was very hard dodging missiles you couldn't often see.
