“Hmm… I need some stand-off range — better bring some mavs.”

“Yeah, those go pretty far.”

“Nonono — I'm not going to fire them. This so I can toss bombs from outside mav range.” :D

Very neat.

interesting adaption until we get dediciated TGP

although i would also throw in a AGM65F on one of the pylons to use as a second poor mans TGP as that will allow us to scope out an area with some zoom to find targets kinda like A10A drivers did.

I cannot press F10 and get anything but the map. In the video it mentions hitting

F10 and then OTHER to get a Jtac (F1) to give You info on where to go to use bombs ?

At least I can fire the Maverick and hit a tank but would like to use the same

GBU12 and Mav setup You used.

Thanks for any help.

Mike

It's talking about F10 inside the communications menu.

In the video it is not the standard JTAC, he is using a mod that changes how the JTAC works (the standard one is pretty awkward and time consuming). With the mod, there are additional options in the communications menu which are accessed with F10.

You dont need any mod for using this method. Its just use the laser Mavs spot to guidance the LGBs. Its pretty accurate and with great range (i make a lot of succesful LGB drops at range of 9-10mils).

But I dont know how real is this method? Can this be used in real life? Or maybe its a DCS bug?

Basicly the same thing you do with a TGP. TGP looks for specific lasercode, TGP finds lasercode, you designate target that the TGP picked up and pass the same code on to the GBU, FCS computes a solution for you, You fly to point in space and drop GBU.

Just in this case the TGP is the mav and you have to manually designate and release at a point where the bomb can reach the target.
