While running a MP mission the other night we had some issues with the laser pointer either from a JTAC or another harrier blinding people under NVG's in the harrier. This was on the NTTR map and have not had the chance to test it on other maps.

Basically whenever you look at the target being painted by a JTAC or a harrier with the TPOD set too "mark" it would cause a blinding effect on the other pilots to the point that you had to turn off your NVG's.

Regular lasers didn't seem to have an issue.

Wondered if this was something that others are dealing with, a Harrier issue... or a general ED issue...

The regular laser is at a frequency, which is invisible to NVG's. The marker laser is at a frequency specifically so that it is visible to NVG's.

That being said, it shouldn't be blinding anyone --unless it were being aimed directly at a pilot I imagine. After all, the whole point of the marker laser is that one person points to a target, so that others can see to where he is pointing.

Read my original post...

Blinding was hitting all on the server...

When the harriers "marked" a target it would cause this issue... (not the invisible IR)

JTAC spotting a target... caused this issue...

I noticed in a SP night mission weird artifact when pointing a target out and could not see the beam until it passed either my 9 or 3 o'clock position. Might be a driver update, but I believe that I am current, plus it effected everyone on the server..

Side note... we are all in VR as well..

Was using IR markers last two days and no one had this effect you describe. There's something else going on. Can you reproduce the miz and effect more simply?

Yeah let me work on that tomorrow.

It might be the mission who knows... I will get with my guy who made it and work with him.

It very well could be the VR NVG mod we are using as well... Need to turn that off and go test it again...
