Greetings,

Just did a loop around my usual testing mission filled with SAMs, armor, migs, tankers, and ships.

After about 2 hours playing this mission the very end I got the strangest event.

With everything still powered, but flaps up and wings folded, I shutdown left engine (keeping right engine running), and the airplane went into 'saturday night fever' mode. The engine readouts started flickering, the DDIs went blank, and the RWR was screaming bloody murder. Even the ECS can be heard cycling on and off. The jet acted like the left generator wasnt sure if it should be online or not. Of course after watching this occur for about 10 seconds, I try to capture this on my phone, but then it stopped and every display came back but then I had a caution for the INS which makes sense in a way after a spike like that.

Caucauses map 2.5.4v haven't checked any others yet.

Is this normal? Anyone else have this happen?

Another attempt

Just finished same mission again, same conditions with the exception of the INS knob and Radar.

I put it to off before shutting down left engine. Everything was fine. Strange this happens with both knobs left on.

How am I supposed to post a track that is 1-2 hours long? Also, I landed both times on the carrier. So, I know for a fact it will be a bogus track.

Was the parking brake on?

I read somewhere that electrical power is not shared across the L/R channels with one engine off unless the parking brake is on.

[MISSING TRACK FILE] engine shutdown electric show

Yes it was on. I’m also wondering if it has to do with rearm weapons and refuel on the ground. I remember doing that the first time and it occurred. The second time, I didn’t and also nothing happened.

Well, I tried testing my theory again. No change.

I completed a flight, and after landing, set the brake, left everything running (DDIs, RWR, Radar, Radar Alt, INS, OBOGS, etc) and shutdown left engine. No anomaly. I then did a rearm/refuel, start up via cross-bleed. Then shutdown left engine again. No anomaly.

Next I'm going to just try doing a lap in the pattern while jettison stores, and see if I can get it to show itself.

ok, here are some trackfiles.

i've had this issue for the longest time, and still am unable to figure out what's happening. tried to keep the tracks as short as possible, but i thought it also had to be a native mission, so anyone could hopefully repro the issue. i'm using the PG "Airfield VFR Landing" mission. use time accel, if you wish.

trackfiles:

*FULL: issue during full shutdown procedure according natops (hopefully)

*SD: issue during quick shutdown on ground

*INFLIGHT: issue during cutoff inflight

*ok: NO issue, but sometimes AC bus unpowered

(please excuse the slomo mouse action -i am currently having some problems with the mouse responsiveness)

some conclusions based on this and my previous experience in the sim:

1) the issue seems to arise about 50% of the time, and only once per mission (track #8 clearly shows this)

2) inflight left engine cutoff results in the AC bus being unpowered about 50% of the time (DDIs blank); the rest of the time the bus remains powered.

3) despite the consistency in the issue appearing as advertised per track file during playback, 1) and 2) above seem to happen spuriously, when taking over at the beginning of any track.

hope that helps

cheers
