What channel are the wingmen/flight on?

I assume there is a default in the mission editor. Do most people just keep the default freq, or is there another standard freq they use?

A lot of times, I set Mother to one frequency and every other flight to another frequency. That way I don't have to change frequencies to get the picture, call Texaco, or tell my wingman something. I know it's not realistic but sure is easier.

There isn't really an agreed-upon system there. As a rule of thumb I'd assume it's the default setting if no radio frequencies get mentioned in the mission briefing, just because both kind of mean whoever designed the mission didn't want to bother.

If you click on the airport in the mission editor, the frequency of the airport is shown.

Enter this by clicking the radio tower in the editor.

Additional frequencies can be set here as well note pic 2.

the Method could vary a bit depending on aircraft.

The wingman will be on the channel you set as the main one as in pic 1.

Note: the frequency of Dubai Intl is 118.750 as in the example pics.

For that Spit freq, what are Button1, Button2, Button3, and Button4? Is that specific to the Spit? Does it have 4 radio buttons?

Yes, the Spitfire (like quite a few others) doesn't have a manual frequency dial but a handful of pre-sets that have to be adjusted in the ME.

I'm a bit of a noob with the radios. So, one more question..

 

Why do the airports have 4 frequencies? Is that because not all aircraft have the same kind of radios? How do I know which frequency to use?

 

When I was learning the F/A-18c on the Nellis AFB, while in game I went to the F10 map and clicked on the Nellis icon, and tried the first frequency(327.000) and I don't think I it would let me enter it. The second frequency worked(132.550).

Yes. Use any. F/A-18 has those ARC-210s which do almost any freq you'll come across. 317 MHz UHF AM should be within its capability.
