Ron Attwood Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I think I've explored every avenue to select unlimited fuel for the Yak but she sputters to a halt just as we're getting into the swing of a formation routine. Have I missed something? (more than likely) or is it not possible on her?
Deano87 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Beyond the normal setting in the options menu, make sure that the mission you are using has unlimited fuel as allowed. Does it work if you fly in single player? It sounds like you are practising in multiplayer so if the mission was made when you ( or whoever made the mission ) had unlimited fuel turned off then it may have it locked to the off position and that overwrites what you have set in your realism options. Click one of the buttons up at the top of the Mission Editor and look for mission options, should look like below. Full Disclosure: I haven't tried flying the Yak-52 with unlimited fuel on so there may be a bug there, but this is the first thing to spring to mind. Ron Attwood Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) Thanks for replying Deano. Both 'Enforce' and 'Value' are checked in the Mission Options page. It also shows in the server list as Unlimited Fuel but it still runs out. I think you may be right, it's either a bug or not catered for in the model. I haven't flown in single player long enough to find out if it works. Hey ho, we'll live.:smilewink: Edited February 1, 2019 by Ron Attwood
Deano87 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I'll have a play with it this eve in single player if I have the time and will report back. Deano87 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) Ok I tested this tonight. Made a mission with an F-18 and a Yak-52, both airstart, unlimited fuel on in my options and forced on in the mission. Spawned the F-18 and sure enough it wasn't using any of its fuel. Spawned in the Yak (1% fuel) and sure enough after a few mins it ran out of gas and I had to make a rather stylish dead stick landing at the airfield below me ;) . Soooo, It would seem that the Yak does indeed use fuel regardless of what your unlimited fuel setting is. Well Spotted Ron! Track Attached. Ron Attwood Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 What is nice is that it wasn't something I didn't do. Thanks for taking the trouble.
Deano87 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 No problem. I just wish the poor old Yak wasn't being totally ignored by the devs. :/ Proud owner of: PointCTRL VR : Finger Trackers for VR -- Real Simulator : FSSB R3L Force Sensing Stick. -- Deltasim : Force Sensor WH Slew Upgrade -- Mach3Ti Ring : Real Flown Mach 3 SR-71 Titanium, made into an amazing ring. Ron Attwood Posted February 4, 2019 Author Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) Maybe they don't realise what a gem this could be with a little more love. We are using it as a basic formation/aerobatic trainer and it a huge amount of fun! We first thought that reducing the fuel level would be beneficial but now I doubt very much whether it makes any difference! We are getting used to it little foibles (leaping off the runway?) EDIT: Great screenshots! Edited February 4, 2019 by Ron Attwood
Deano87 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 EDIT: Great screenshots! Thanks! Regarding leaping off the runway, I haven't had an issue with this, although I've seen people mention it. Are you using flaps on takeoff? Takeoff should be flapless in the 52 as far as I know. It doesn't carry all that much fuel so I'd say fill her up, you probably won't notice the performance difference. Ron Attwood Posted February 4, 2019 Author Posted February 4, 2019 No flaps. Probably me being ham fisted.

Agreed, I'd by a second copy for training and formation work - if the ADF needle was working/animated. i9 9900K @4.8GHz, 64GB DDR4, RTX4070 12GB, 1+2TB NVMe, 6+4TB HD, 4+1TB SSD, Winwing Orion 2 F-15EX Throttle + F-16EX Stick, TPR Pedals, TIR5, Win 11 Pro x64, Odyssey G93SC 5120X1440
