so i'm out here practicing with mavs and noticed an odd behavior. it's not every time, but every so often when i launch a mav it curves way out to the left or right before turning back in to the tarket. but because of this it loses a lot of energy and usually comes up pretty short.

can anyone explain why this is happening? i haven't been able to find a way to reproduce it consistently however. :helpsmilie:

It's the side mounted Mavericks on the triple rail LAU-88, they try to loft when launched but instead veer to the left or right depending on which side they were mounted.

The Maverick should follow a high top-attack trajectory, by IIRC it is given roll-information from the aircraft prior to launch.

There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.

On the LAU-88, the side mounted missiles 'guidance and control section' (GCS) is adjusted to be properly oriented (arrow on either side the GCS up), the latest DCS FM update doesn't model that.

Ramsay, with your pics in mind, I just loaded up a mission in 2.5.4 and while I was doing my control checks, I looked at the Mavericks and confirmed the ones hung on the outboard side rails have that "Up" arrow pointing toward the fuselage. In the latest update to the Beta, they still fly a little funny, but now they seem to be hitting their targets.

Edit: Whoops. The ones on the siderails are still completely borked. All of them hit the first time I flew, but each time after that they went right back to coming up miles short of the target. Good thing I still have 2.5.3 installed for my release version.
