BoneDust Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I was wondering if you're going to improve the sounds. I recently started flying the AV8; nice jet, but was disappointed in the sounds. Take a look at this vide around the 1:58 mark; that growl sound and the sound when he touches down 3:09. I was able to replicate these sounds in BMS when I was a dev with them, and was hoping you folks could improve the current sounds  Alienware New Aurora R15 | Windows® 11 Home Premium | 64bit, 13thGen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9 13900KF(24-Core, 68MB| NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 4090, 24GB GDDR6X | 1 X 2TB SSD, 1X 1TB SSD | 64GB, 2x32GB, DDR5, 4800MHz | 1350W PSU, Alienware Cryo-tech (TM) Edition CPU Liquid Cooling power supply | Pimax Crystal VR

I like it a lot. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300537/ Or make your own. The BMS sounds were pretty nice. I'd use it. BoneDust Posted February 8, 2019 Author Posted February 8, 2019 (edited) Once I understand how the SDEF works I believe I can replicate it. I'll give those ones a try but they still don't sound quite right. Can't understand why the version we have is lacking. I still hold out hope Diveplane will return and finish his harrier mod :)
BoneDust Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 Hmm, yes the FS sounds are pretty good. Well, I'm working on it so I'll see what I can do with it. thrustvector Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 the whole plane is a different beast in FSX, different version as well

This is the in-cockpit sound recorded by the GoPro. In DCS you will only ever hear the in-helmet sound, which is not the same at all. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. hughesj2 Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Yeah it's not just missing the "growl" its the igniter sounds at start-up, the ECS noise, the spool down whine, the noise of the jetwash reflecting back onto the jet just before touchdown...I had thought Razbam had commissioned Military Sound Studios to do a full and accurate sound set but that seems to have disappeared without trace and not seen sounds mentioned on their updates. Shame really as the unique Pegasus sounds are a big part of the Harrier experience Good examples in this video Cheers James
Shadow_1stVFW Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 the spool down whine, That's the Engine Fast Deceleration Solenoid, pretty sure it's not modeled yet. So you wouldn't hear it as the engine won't decelerate fast enough anyway. 2.3.1.3 Engine Fast Deceleration Solenoid To avoid aircraft bounce on vertical landing,DECS incorporates a fast deceleration solenoid that is armed for 1 second by the weight on wheels (WOW) switch. A rapid throttle chop will activate the fast deceleration system and immediately reduce fuel flow. For aircraft with IPPC--227 incorporated, the engine fast deceleration solenoid is disabled.
