I prepfer FRAPS but only if you got good FPS, so this is not my state so I am rendering by lockon interface. It take long time but this is only one solution for me.

I also tested other softwares like FRAPS mybe 5-8 SW but FRAPS is best for this and I cant use it thanks to NVIDIA or FRAPS, I reported this to them but nobody knows why FPS is going down when I combined this two. ATI was better card for me.

So by rendering in Lock on, you would get no lag? But it just takes a long time?

Could someone tell me the step by step process how to use the lock on interface once I have made a track with all the proper view angle.

Ah thanks Sponge and SKF, that fixed my problem. Let me ask a question to you folks, what is the best way to render a video at max quality? I don't want any stutters, and if i record with fraps, even slowing it down will still give me some stutters. So how do you guys do it?

As I said many times but nobody listen:

1. If You recorded and edited track in whatever graphic quality, set graphic settings to maximum.

2. Go to Flight/Record AVI in upper menu in editor

3. In compression choose video method as "NUMBERED SCREENSHOTS" (look at attachment!!!), set quality to 100% (not like mine 25%!) AND set number of frames per second (24 goes for cinema like motion, there is no need to go higher than 60 fps) - You need a lot of time and patience. Less frames = less time. Better way is to render short clips and then add them to timeline in Vegas/Premier.

4. After "rendering" go to /LockOn/Screenshots (or /LockOn/Movie - don't remember) folder and press ALT+A

5. Copy all these files to your Media Library in Vegas, Premier, whatever.

6. EDIT and RENDER the video there - that's all - you'll get fluent video from screenshots in best graphics quality.

YOU DON'T NEED TO PRESS PRINTSCREEN to get numbered shots!. When I explained this method earlier some of you got confused.

There is also another option if you really don't want to do my way - buy yourself a better rig.

If i understand that correctly, doesn't that mean there won't be any sound? Since its just basically screenshots?

Is there another way to render it, using the lock on interface, to make it with sound?

There will be separate file with sound in the same place where screenshots appear. Now I don't remember is those pics will appear in screenshots folder or movie folder... :music_whistling:. That file You have to copy to vegas media library too.

Is it called Record AVI? Because going into this menu makes my comp slow as hell and its not even recording anything yet. Is that normal?

And when i recorded, i got a BSOD 0x00000050, twice in a row. So i guess fraps is my only option.

Yes. It's Record AVI and it slows down comp. You can't do anything else. If You press ALT+TAB for example You will record that process and every your action.

But your problem are codecs probably. Some are OK, some not. To be sure uninstall them on that time. Leave only Xvid from LOMAC.

I think i know why you have a really low fps when recording with fraps. I remember you said before that you are running on a laptop with similar specs as mine. So, you must be running on a fairly high resolution like 1600x1000 or 1920x1200...etc. Do Not record in that resolution, most lock on videos out there don't even exceed 800x600, so once you made your track and edited it. Set your game resolution to 800x600, you could push up the quality or whatever and then record. I expereince no problem recording even when its running on normal speed, if you still experience some stutters, you could always press alt-a to slow it down once or twice and record from there. That way you will get a smooth video with fraps. Poko's method is always very smart, however i don't want to render the entire track, just some parts so that's why i went with fraps. Good luck.

Ah yes that's where i went wrong. Tell me, is it better to record at 800x600, or record at HALF SIZE, at 1280x960 (because the final product is going to be 640x480). Which would give me better performance?

Posted

oh, and what fps do you boys usually set under for fraps? Currently mine is 30, i think lowering this number would give me better performance? But i don't want to lower it too much otherwise my videos would be a slideshow.

30 is recommended.

With 24-26 it's difficult but can get problems of slideshow if for casuality some clip slows more than expected your computer when recording (the biggest moment of an explision for example).

My first movie was a big mistake in this way, 50 fps used with the ingame recorder. Some people get real trouble to reproduce the movie because their computers and/or software get crazy at those fps. I uploaded at 1024x768x50 at google video and no one was able to see it; just a noob error :D

Also, if you want to set the resolution to make like an 16:9 or similar, remember that set the ratio to 1:1 (square pixels) if it's propossed to be seen on a computer.

Ah thanks, i have one question about fraps. For some reason, its not recording my in-game sound. Its not that big of a problem since most of my vid is going to be the song, but i would like to have the option of recording sound for some scenes. Right now, my fraps is set to half-size, and i did check record sound. The sound device is SigmaTel Audio and Sound input is Line in (i also changed this to stereo mix). I also went to my control panel and under sound and audio devices/audio/volume- i pushed it all the way up. I just don't understand what is causing this.

It's a known bug once you have installed Vegas.

It's a codecs issue, I think.

Don't know why, but with Vegas on, sound off. Vegas uninstalled and sound comes back.

It doesn't happen everytime so it's hard to know exactly how to fix it.

Anyone knows?
