pushkin Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Hello everyone, I just bought the Mirage and have been getting acquainted with it. I haven't seen a turn and bank indicator on the dash, and I saw today on a Hoggit thread that someone wrote that rudder coordination is unnecessary on the Mirage. So does the aircraft not need rudder inputs due to aerodynamics, or does it coordinate turns for you, or is something else going on?
Esac_mirmidon Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Is called FBW mate. The computer takes the control following some coded rules with every pilot input on the stick, keeping the plane coordinated. " You must think in russian.." joca133 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Barely use the rudders myself, only for crosswind landings and during takeoffs and taxi.
Snappy Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 (edited) If you really feel like checking coordination ,look closely below the main ADI. You will discover an inclinometer, or as it is probably more commonly known, a ball indicator, so you can actually check there, if the aircraft is slipping or sliding during a turn. However as already mentionend by others, the FBW should take care of coordination during turns. There is no turn indicator as far as I am aware, not that you will be doing much rate one turns anyway in combat. Should the need overcome you , for IFR training or whatever, simply take TAS/10 +7 as bank angle. Should be close enough.. Kind regards, Snappy Edited February 16, 2019 by Snappy
smallberries Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Also, I find the ball will be invisible if you don't turn on the instrument lighting.
Vilab Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 if you want to uncoordinate the rudder, switch the "vrille" mode… then you will praise the FBW
